The article, "La fundación del ingenio Santa Ana: El sexo del azúcar y la colonialidad del poder," proposes a timely and relevant examination of the intersection between literary analysis and decolonial thought. It aims to establish connections between Eduardo Rosenzvaig's 1991 novel, *El sexo del azúcar*, and key notions from decolonial frameworks, specifically drawing upon Aníbal Quijano's concept of the coloniality of power. The core objective is to analyze the novel as a metaphorical representation of the persistent colonial matrices embedded within the socio-political and historical landscape surrounding the foundation of sugar mills in Tucumán. This approach promises a significant contribution to both literary criticism and decolonial studies. By identifying the novel as a rich site for exploring enduring colonial structures, the authors intend to illuminate the complex power dynamics associated with sugar production and its historical impact in the region. The proposal to recover collective memories of the Ingenio Santa Ana through the literary text is particularly compelling, offering a unique avenue to discuss the intricate relationship between coloniality, power, and the contested notion of progress. The article's interdisciplinary nature, bridging literature, history, and critical theory, positions it to offer novel insights into how fictional narratives can help unpack profound societal structures. While the abstract lays out a compelling intellectual project, a deeper engagement with the specific analytical strategies for linking the novel's narrative intricacies to Quijano's coloniality of power would strengthen the proposal. For instance, clarifying *how* the "persistence of colonial matrices" will be identified within the text and what specific tools will be used to analyze *El sexo del azúcar* as a "metaphor" for the broader socio-historical panorama could further enhance the article's impact. The exploration of "collective memories" through a novel presents a fascinating challenge, and the methodology for this recovery and interpretation will be crucial. Overall, the proposed research is ambitious and holds substantial promise for shedding new light on the cultural and historical legacies of colonial power in Argentina, making it a valuable addition to the field.
