Review

The article titled "Strategi Pengembangan Bisnis Pada Usaha Gula Aren Melalui Pendekatan Business Model Canvas Di Desa Segobang, Kecamatan Licin, Kabupaten Banyuwangi" addresses a highly relevant issue concerning rural development and the sustainability of local businesses. The abstract clearly articulates the importance of empowering villages to mitigate socio-economic problems such as unemployment and outward migration, positioning the study as a valuable contribution to community development efforts. The primary objective is to identify and formulate business development strategies for a palm sugar (gula aren) enterprise using a comprehensive methodological framework that integrates the Business Model Canvas (BMC) with SWOT, IFAS, and EFAS analyses. This multi-faceted approach promises a robust investigation into the current state and future potential of the business. A significant strength of this research lies in its methodical approach, starting with the identification of the existing business model through BMC, followed by a detailed internal and external factor analysis using IFAS and EFAS, which then feeds into a SWOT framework. The abstract provides specific quantitative results from the internal-external matrix analysis, noting a strength score of 2.99, a weakness score of 3.23, an opportunity score of 3.84, and a threat score of 2.84. The calculated coordinate points (X -0.24, Y 1.0) suggest a particular strategic position for the palm sugar business, likely indicating that opportunities significantly outweigh threats, despite some internal weaknesses. This quantitative grounding is a good starting point for evidence-based strategic formulation. While the abstract effectively outlines the methodology and presents key analytical results, a crucial aspect that appears to be missing is the articulation of the *actual business development strategies* derived from this comprehensive analysis. The stated goal is "to identify or formulate business development strategies," yet the abstract concludes with analytical scores rather than a summary of the resulting strategies. For instance, the interpretation of the coordinate points (X -0.24, Y 1.0) and how they directly translate into actionable strategies for the palm sugar business needs to be explicitly presented. The full paper would greatly benefit from clearly outlining these formulated strategies, perhaps categorized by the BMC components they impact or by the strategic quadrant implied by the coordinates, to demonstrate the practical implications and contribution of the research. This would ensure the study delivers on its promise of providing concrete development strategies for the local enterprise.
