Introduction

Навчання Перекладу Суспільно-Політичної Лексики Майбутніх Перекладачів. Досліджено вплив спецкурсу "Політичний переклад" на формування компетентностей майбутніх перекладачів. Виявлено покращення навичок перекладу суспільно-політичної лексики.

Abstract

У статті досліджується рівень володіння загальнополітичною термінологічною лексикою студентів, які вивчають англійську мову як другу іноземну, на етапі початку навчання перекладу. Основною метою роботи є визначення впливу одного розділу (візити/зустрічі/прийоми) спеціального курсу «Політичний переклад. Перші кроки» на формування відповідних компетентностей у студентів. Для досягнення цієї мети було сформульовано гіпотезу, розроблено методику дослідження, яка включала тестові завдання з перекладу загальнополітичної термінології, та проведено експериментальний зріз. У ході експерименту студенти були поділені на контрольну та експериментальну групи, причому перша група проходила підготовку в руслі затвердженої освітньої програми, в той час як остання додатково опрацювала вищезазначений спеціальний курс. Результати тестування показали, що студенти експериментальної групи при перекладі термінолексики вищезгаданої тематики досягли дещо вищих показників при перекладі як з української, так і з англійської мов. Середній рівень прийнятності відповідників у них склав 87%, тоді як у контрольній групі — 79%. Попередні отримані дані свідчать про те, що спеціалізований курс загалом, і його розділ (візити/зустрічі/прийоми) зокрема, має позитивний вплив на розширення термінологічного лексикону студентів і покращення їхніх перекладацьких навичок. З огляду на невеликий розрив у показниках груп, отримані результати потребують додаткової перевірки з іншими експериментальними передумовами. Кінцеві результати дослідження можуть бути використані для вдосконалення методики викладання перекладу політичних текстів, а також для подальших досліджень у сфері професійної підготовки майбутніх перекладачів.

This article addresses a highly relevant and critical area within translator training: the effective teaching of socio-political terminology translation. The authors investigate the proficiency level of students learning English as a second foreign language in general political terminology and, more importantly, examine the impact of a specific section (visits/meetings/receptions) from a specialized course titled "Political Translation. First Steps." The primary objective is to ascertain whether this focused intervention can significantly contribute to the development of relevant translation competencies. The study's focus on practical pedagogical application makes it a valuable contribution to the field of translation pedagogy. The methodology employed in the study is clearly outlined, featuring a controlled experimental design. Students were divided into experimental and control groups, with the former receiving supplementary instruction from the specified section of the special course, while the latter followed the standard curriculum. The research utilized translation tests focusing on general political terminology to assess student progress. The findings indicate that the experimental group demonstrated a modest but discernible improvement, achieving an average acceptability rate of 87% for translated equivalents, compared to 79% in the control group. This suggests that the specialized course section positively influenced students' terminological lexicon and translation skills for the targeted thematic area, supporting the study's underlying hypothesis. While the preliminary results offer promising insights into the benefits of targeted specialized instruction, the authors appropriately acknowledge the relatively small difference in performance between the groups. This self-identified limitation underscores the necessity for further validation and replication under varied experimental conditions to solidify these findings. Nevertheless, the study successfully lays the groundwork for refining teaching methodologies in political text translation. Its findings can directly inform curriculum development and serve as a valuable reference point for future research aimed at enhancing the professional preparation of aspiring translators, particularly in specialized domains such as political discourse.
