Review

This paper presents a timely and practical community service initiative focused on improving educational infrastructure. It addresses the critical need for enhanced learning environments within Islamic boarding schools, specifically at the Asror Arrohmah Patemon institution in Semarang. The authors rightly highlight the strategic role of these schools in character and knowledge development, underscoring the urgency of tackling the current limitations in classroom facilities that hinder optimal teaching and learning activities. The program's core objective to design more functional, comfortable, and environmentally friendly classrooms is highly commendable and directly contributes to a vital educational sector. The methodology employed is systematic and well-suited to the project's aims, encompassing initial condition surveys, detailed needs analyses, floor plan development, 3D modeling, and the preparation of a comprehensive Cost Budget Plan (RAB). The strength of this approach lies in its practical output: classroom designs that effectively integrate green building principles. These include crucial elements such as maximizing natural lighting, implementing cross-ventilation for air quality, and optimizing spatial planning. The provision of 3D visualizations is a particularly valuable deliverable, enabling school management to thoroughly understand, evaluate, and subsequently plan for the technical and aesthetic aspects of the proposed construction phase with clarity. In conclusion, this community service effort successfully delivers a representative and well-conceived design solution to a pressing infrastructural challenge. The resulting blueprint is not merely an architectural plan but a strategic tool aimed at profoundly supporting student learning processes and fostering a more conducive and sustainable educational environment. The project exemplifies how thoughtful planning and the application of sustainable principles can address immediate facility constraints while also promoting long-term educational well-being. This work lays a strong foundation for the actualization of improved learning spaces at Asror Arrohmah Patemon.
