UKM Tahu “SDD” salah satu usaha Tahu di Kediri yang berlokasi di kawasan kampung tahu Tinalan. Namun, proses produksinya terdapat sejumlah masalah terutama kurang efektifnya waktu produksi akibat pengaturan tata letak fasilitas yang belum mengikuti urutan proses yang tepat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merancang kembali tata letak fasilitas produksi tahu agar menjadi lebih efektif dengan mengurangi jarak antar fasilitas produksi, serta memastikan urutan proses berjalan dengan baik sehingga waktu produksi menjadi lebih efisien. Metode dalam penelitian ini yaitu From To Chart (FTC). Metode FTC digunakan untuk merestrukturisasi tata letak fasilitas berdasarkan pengaturan lini produksi dan pemeliharaan material selama proses produksi produksi. Selain itu FTC digunakan untuk mengubah grafik jarak tempuh yang biasanya ditemukan pada peta perjalanan serta menggambarkan jarak tempuh yang bisa dianalogikan dengan peta perjalanan. Data yang didapatkan dari wawancara dan pengukuran secara langsung. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan desain tata letak usulan dimana beberapa stasiun kerja dipindahkan lebih dekat satu sama lain dengan memanfaatkan area kosong yang ada. Dengan perubahan ini jarak antar stasiun kerja berkurang sebesar 7 meter bila dibandingkan kondisi sebelumnya yaitu 11,3 meter. Dari hasil tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa analisis FTC backward dan forward cukup efektif dalam meminimalkan jarak antar fasilitas produksi guna mengurangi waktu material handling sekaligus mempercepat proses produksi.

The primary objective is clear and well-articulated: to redesign the tofu production facility layout to enhance effectiveness by minimizing inter-facility distances, ensuring a streamlined process flow, and ultimately improving production efficiency. The research employs the From To Chart (FTC) method, a recognized tool for facility layout optimization, to achieve these goals. The methodology leverages the FTC to restructure the layout, focusing on optimizing the production line arrangement and material handling throughout the manufacturing process. The abstract highlights that FTC was utilized to effectively transform traditional travel charts into a more actionable representation of travel distances. Data collection involved both interviews and direct measurements, suggesting a practical, hands-on approach to problem-solving. The findings demonstrate a tangible improvement, with the proposed layout significantly reducing the average distance between workstations from 11.3 meters to 7 meters by strategically relocating certain stations and utilizing existing empty spaces. This reduction in travel distance is directly linked to a decrease in material handling time and an acceleration of the overall production process. In conclusion, the research effectively demonstrates the utility of the From To Chart method, specifically its backward and forward analysis capabilities, in minimizing material handling distances and improving production efficiency within a small-scale manufacturing environment. The study provides a clear, practical solution to a common operational bottleneck faced by many SMEs. The reduction in travel distance achieved is a commendable result, indicating the direct applicability and positive impact of the proposed design. This work offers valuable insights for similar tofu producers or other SMEs looking to optimize their production layouts and enhance their operational effectiveness.
