Review

The submission, "Penanganan Anak Putus Sekolah melalui Program Barudak Cerdas dan Aktif bagi Warga Desa Sirnagalih Kabupaten Cianjur," addresses a highly relevant and critical social issue: reducing school dropout rates, particularly in specific community contexts like Sirnagalih village. The initiative, named "Barudak Cerdas dan Aktif" (Smart and Active Barudak), aims to tackle this challenge by enhancing parental awareness and children's motivation towards education. This focus on community-level intervention for educational access and retention is commendable and holds significant potential for positive social impact, aligning with broader goals of educational equity and community development. The abstract effectively highlights a community-driven approach, emphasizing collaboration with a local work team in Sirnagalih village. The chosen methods, encompassing counseling and training, appear practical and directly aligned with the stated objectives of increasing awareness and interest among both parents and children. The reported positive reception, characterized by participant enthusiasm and active discussions, suggests initial engagement and a successful implementation of the activity itself. This indicates that the program successfully mobilized community members and initiated constructive dialogue around the importance of education. While the abstract conveys a positive outcome, describing an increase in parental awareness and children's interest, and a potential "drastic" reduction in dropout rates, it lacks specific empirical data to substantiate these claims. For a full journal article, it would be beneficial to include quantitative measures, such as pre- and post-intervention assessment data on awareness levels, attendance rates, or actual dropout figures. Future reporting should also elaborate on the specific content of the counseling and training, the duration and frequency of the activities, the number of participants, and a clearer methodology for measuring impact beyond observational enthusiasm. Additionally, discussing challenges encountered, resource allocation, and strategies for long-term sustainability would strengthen the overall contribution of this important community service initiative.
