Abstract

People with disabilities, especially students at SLB Negeri Ungaran, have the same right to live a healthy and active life as other individuals. One way to achieve this is through physical activity such as Creative Dance. Creative Dance has many benefits for people with disabilities, both physically, psychologically, and socially. Physically, it helps to improve physical fitness. Psychologically, it increases confidence, reduces stress, and helps overcome anxiety and depression. Meanwhile, in the social aspect, it provides opportunities for people with disabilities to interact with others, build social relationships, and increase a sense of togetherness and inclusion in society. Participation in group activities can also increase motivation as well as provide positive emotional support. The purpose of this community service activity is to increase the independence, motor skills, and confidence of people with disabilities through physical activities based on creative dance. The implementation methods in this activity are (1) socialization, (2) training, and (3) mentoring. This activity was attended by 151 students with disabilities. During the implementation of the service, the participants showed enthusiasm, this can be seen from the attendance of 90% of the participants and active involvement in the creative Dance session. The result of this service activity is to have a positive impact, both physically, psychologically, and socially, on the participants. Creative Creative Dance has proven to be an effective medium to improve the fitness, creativity, social interaction, and confidence of people with disabilities.

Review

This paper addresses a highly pertinent and commendable objective: empowering individuals with disabilities through creative dance to foster healthy living, aligning with the broader "Fit Indonesia 2045" initiative. The abstract effectively highlights the inherent right of people with disabilities to an active life and positions creative dance as a multi-faceted intervention. The proposed benefits – spanning physical fitness, psychological well-being (confidence, stress reduction), and social inclusion – underscore the holistic potential of such activities. This focus on a vulnerable population and a non-pharmacological, engaging intervention makes the work particularly relevant and timely, contributing significantly to discussions on inclusive public health strategies. The community service activity involved a substantial cohort of 151 students with disabilities and employed a clear, three-stage implementation approach: socialization, training, and mentoring. The reported high attendance rate (90%) and active participant engagement are strong indicators of the program's initial success and appeal. The abstract confidently asserts positive impacts on participants' physical fitness, creativity, social interaction, and confidence. However, as a journal submission, the abstract would benefit from greater detail regarding the specific methodologies used to *measure* these claimed benefits. While observational data on enthusiasm and involvement are valuable, insights into quantitative or qualitative assessment tools (e.g., pre-post surveys, motor skill assessments, structured interviews) would substantially strengthen the evidence base for the stated "effectiveness" of creative dance. Further specification of the types of disabilities among the student participants would also enhance the generalizability and applicability of the findings. Despite the need for more methodological granularity in the abstract, this paper outlines a highly promising and impactful community service initiative. It convincingly argues for creative dance as a viable and beneficial pathway for empowerment and healthy living among individuals with disabilities. The program's success in fostering engagement and observed positive changes suggests a strong foundation for future, more rigorously designed research studies. Future work could build upon these findings by incorporating robust longitudinal data collection, developing standardized assessment tools tailored to different disability types, and exploring the long-term sustainability of such programs. Ultimately, this work offers a valuable contribution to the field of inclusive health promotion and provides a compelling case for integrating creative arts into public health initiatives for marginalized communities.
