Development of hanzi radical learning media xīnzìpáng for students . Develops creative Hanzi radical learning media (Xīnzìpáng) for Chinese language students at Semarang State University. Features needs analysis, prototype, and expert-validated feasibility.
This research was conducted based on the results of observations which showed that hanzi learning media for Chinese Language Education students at Semarang State University needed the development of creative and innovative hanzi learning media. The objectives of this research are 1) to describe the results of the needs analysis of radical hanzi learning media "忄xīn" for Chinese Language Education students at Semarang State University, 2) to describe the results of the prototype of radical hanzi learning media "忄xīn" for Mandarin Language Education students at Semarang State University, 3) to describe the results of expert validation of radical hanzi learning media "忄xīn" for Mandarin Language Education students at Semarang State University. The results of validation of learning media by material experts obtained an overall average score of 87, which was included in the score of 4. And the results of validation of learning media by media experts obtained an overall average score of 87.5, which was included in the score of 4 with the category very feasible to use with some improvements so that the media will be better and maximally used.
This research addresses a pertinent and well-identified need within Chinese language education, focusing on the development of innovative learning media for Hanzi radicals. The title, "Development of Hanzi Radical Learning Media Xīnzìpáng for Students," clearly outlines the scope, specifically targeting the "忄xīn" radical. The abstract effectively highlights the observed gap in existing media for Chinese Language Education students at Semarang State University, laying a strong foundation for the study's relevance. The stated objectives—needs analysis, prototype development, and expert validation—indicate a structured and systematic approach to media creation, which is commendable. The methodology presented, involving a needs analysis, prototype development, and subsequent expert validation, demonstrates a methodical process for creating educational tools. A key strength evident in the abstract is the positive outcome of the expert validation phase. Both material and media experts provided high scores (average of 87 and 87.5 respectively), leading to a classification of "very feasible to use." This expert consensus lends significant credibility to the quality and design of the developed media prototype, suggesting that the "Xīnzìpáng" media holds promise as a valuable resource for students learning Hanzi radicals. While the expert validation results are encouraging, the abstract leaves some critical questions unanswered regarding the media's practical application and impact. Specifically, it does not mention any pilot testing or evaluation with actual students, nor does it provide insights into the "improvements" suggested by the experts. For a learning media development project, demonstrating efficacy through student engagement, user feedback, and tangible learning outcomes is crucial. Future iterations of this research, or the full paper, would greatly benefit from incorporating these elements to fully ascertain the media's effectiveness and its potential to genuinely enhance Hanzi radical acquisition among its target users.
