Development of android-based educational media application related to work fatigue in nurses. Develops a highly valid Android educational app to address work fatigue in nurses. Improve job performance and support independent learning for healthcare professionals effectively.
In this era, science and technology are advancing significantly. The development of information and communication technology, along with the emergence of mobile devices, can benefit the fields of education and healthcare through applications designed as educational media. Work fatigue among nurses is a condition that must be promptly addressed and cannot be ignored, as it can affect their job performance and has many negative consequences. The purpose of this research is to develop an educational media application related to work fatigue in nurses. This study is a Research and Development of an Android-based educational media application. Product testing was conducted by evaluating the validity of the educational media with content experts, media experts, and users (nurses). The results of the product testing showed that the content experts gave an average validity score of 92.86%, categorized as very valid, while the media experts rated it at 94%, also categorized as very valid. In a small-scale trial with 5 nurses, the application received a score of 93.7%, categorized as very good, though there were revisions needed regarding the ease of login. After revisions, a limited-scale trial with 10 nurses resulted in a score of 98.7%, categorized as very good. Thus, the developed educational media application on work fatigue for nurses is highly valid and can be effectively used by nurses independently on Android devices.
This paper addresses a highly relevant and timely topic: work fatigue in nurses, an issue with significant implications for patient care quality, patient safety, and healthcare system efficiency. The authors propose an innovative solution by leveraging ubiquitous mobile technology to deliver educational content, which aligns well with the global trend of integrating information and communication technology into both educational and healthcare settings. The aim to develop an Android-based educational media application is well-justified given the widespread use of mobile devices and the urgent need for accessible and engaging resources to help nurses understand and mitigate work-related fatigue. The research employs an appropriate Research and Development (R&D) methodology for the creation and validation of an educational product. The abstract clearly outlines a robust, multi-faceted testing process, involving content experts, media experts, and the end-users (nurses) themselves, ensuring comprehensive validation from various perspectives. The consistently high validity scores from both content (92.86%) and media (94%) experts, coupled with the strong user satisfaction ratings from small-scale (93.7%) and limited-scale (98.7%) trials, strongly attest to the application's quality, relevance, and usability. The iterative revision process, particularly addressing the ease of login after the initial small-scale trial, demonstrates a practical and user-centered development approach, enhancing the final product's effectiveness. While the abstract effectively demonstrates the successful development and initial validation of the application, a full paper would benefit from elaborating on the specific educational content delivered through the app and the pedagogical or theoretical framework guiding its design. Future research could explore the actual impact of using this application on nurses' knowledge regarding work fatigue, their self-management strategies, and ultimately, their job performance and well-being in a controlled, longitudinal setting. Nevertheless, this work presents a promising and well-validated tool with considerable potential to support nurses in understanding and managing a critical occupational health challenge, making a valuable contribution to both nursing education and occupational health.
