to the lack of interest among younger generations. Introducing Wayang Timplong to children has become a strategic step in preserving this cultural heritage, one method being through a simple comic-based illustrated book. Observations and interviews revealed a shortage of innovative and engaging educational media about Wayang Timplong for children. The design of the illustrated book titled Wayang Timplong uses a mixed research method, consisting of two stages: the preparation stage and the creation stage. The preparation stage includes data collection, 5W+1H analysis, and synthesis. Meanwhile, the creation stage involves pre-production, production, and post-production. Through an interactive visual approach, it is hoped that children will not only become familiar with but also grow to love and take pride in this traditional art form. The research findings show that introducing the Wayang Timplong culture through creative media can enhance children's understanding of local cultural traditions and support efforts to preserve them in the future.
The proposed work, "Wayang Timplong Illustration Book as a Medium for Introducing Nganjuk Culture to Children," addresses a highly pertinent and critical issue concerning the preservation of cultural heritage amidst dwindling interest from younger generations. The abstract clearly articulates the strategic importance of introducing Wayang Timplong to children, positioning the development of a simple comic-based illustrated book as an innovative and engaging solution. This initiative is particularly commendable given the identified shortage of suitable educational media, making the project's aim both timely and highly relevant for cultural conservation efforts. The methodological approach, outlined as a mixed-methods design comprising preparation and creation stages, appears robust and well-structured. The preparation stage's inclusion of data collection and 5W+1H analysis suggests a thorough foundational understanding of the problem and target audience, while the creation stage's pre-production, production, and post-production phases indicate a systematic development process for the illustration book. The emphasis on an "interactive visual approach" is a significant strength, promising to make the complex traditional art form accessible and appealing to children, thereby fostering not just familiarity but also a deeper appreciation and pride in their cultural roots. The reported research findings, indicating that creative media can enhance children's understanding of local traditions and support future preservation, underscore the potential impact of this work. While the abstract provides a compelling overview, a full paper would benefit from elaborating on the specific interactive elements, the design principles derived from the 5W+1H analysis, and details regarding the evaluation of the book's effectiveness with its target audience. Nevertheless, this project presents a valuable contribution to the field of cultural education and heritage preservation, offering a practical and thoughtfully designed medium to ensure that Wayang Timplong continues to thrive through successive generations.
