Introduction

Viestejä lasten neuvottelukunnalta: miten lasten osallisuutta voidaan vahvistaa kouluyhteisössä?. Lasten osallisuus ja hyvinvointi koulussa: kuudesluokkalaisten viestit. Rakenna turvallinen, inklusiivinen kouluyhteisö, ehkäise kiusaamista ja paranna luokkahenkeä.

Abstract

Velvollisuutenamme aikuisina on kuunnella lasten moninaisia ääniä koulun arjessa –myös niitä, jotka ovat hiljaisia tai jäävät helposti näkymättömiin – ja ottaa kaikki lapset aktiivisesti mukaan osallisuutta edistävän kouluyhteisön rakentamiseen. Kouluyhteisön aikuiset tarvitsevat monipuolista vuorovaikutusosaamista, tietoa lasten oikeuksista sekä riittävät resurssit kohdatakseen lapset niin yksilöinä kuin myös osana ryhmää. EduRESCUE-hankkeen lasten neuvottelukuntaan osallistuneiden kuudesluokkalaisten viestit tarjoavat arvokkaita työkaluja turvallisen ja osallisuutta edistävän kouluyhteisön rakentamiseksi. Lapset pitävät tärkeänä tukea tarjoavaa, yhteisöllisyyttä aktiivisesti rakentavaa kouluyhteisöä ja tarvitsevat turvallisia kanssakulkijoita sekä suojelua ulkopuolisuutta ja turvattomuutta tuottavilta tilanteilta, erityisesti koulusiirtymissä. Kuudesluokkalaiset tunnistivat myös omaa rooliaan siinä, että jokaisen osallisuus kouluyhteisössä voisi toteutua, ja toivoivat lisää yhteistä keskustelua esimerkiksi kiusaamisesta, luokkahengestä ja mielen hyvinvoinnista. Neuvottelukunnan monipuoliset osallistumisen mahdollisuudet nähtiin tärkeinä, ja osa lapsista ehdotti, että toiminnallisia ja taiteellisia työtapoja voitaisiin hyödyntää tulevaisuudessa vielä enemmän.

The positive reception of the advisory board's diverse participation opportunities, alongside suggestions for future functional and artistic approaches, further illustrates the depth and applicability of the children's insights. While the abstract presents a compelling case for centering children's voices, a full paper would benefit from elaborating on certain methodological and implementational specifics. For instance, a detailed description of how the "messages" were elicited and analyzed would enhance the rigor and transferability of the findings. Furthermore, exploring the practical challenges adults face in cultivating "diverse interaction skills" and securing "sufficient resources" for individual and group engagement could provide a more nuanced understanding of implementation. Nevertheless, this paper makes a substantial and timely contribution to the discourse on child participation, offering clear, actionable recommendations rooted in the authentic experiences and desires of children themselves, making it an essential read for educators, policymakers, and researchers committed to fostering genuinely inclusive school communities.
