Abstract

Este artigo desenvolve uma caracterização estritamente linguística da sufixação por -enta (e.g., oit-enta), típica das dezenas cardinais do português brasileiro. Descritivamente, este trabalho avança a descrição deste sufixo nos termos de seu comportamento fonético-fonológico, morfofonológico e morfossintático. Além dos contextos de atribuição em NPs (e.g., oitenta estudantes), derivações numerais inovadoras (e.g., oit-ent-ão “homem de 80 anos”) são também consideradas. Analiticamente, e sob o arcabouço da Morfologia Distribuída (Halle; Marantz, 1993; i.a.), essas propriedades são derivadas de estruturas sintáticas de forma [[n [√enta]] √x], em que √x toma o lugar das raízes associadas a três, …, nove. Ao todo, este artigo integra o português brasileiro a um panorama mais amplo da variação morfológica de numerais e contribui para a caracterização geral dos numerais do português brasileiro.
