Abstract

The development of the world of technology in the current era can be a strong impetus to optimize technology in various fields, including the world of education, one of which is in the form of digital learning media. Elementary school teachers in Trenggalek Regency find it difficult to use digital learning media due to lack of knowledge and training regarding the use of digital media, teachers still do not master the use of digital platforms that can be used as learning media, variations in the learning process really need to be optimized to make students enthusiastic and not bored during learning, teachers need training related to the use of digital learning media. Padlet is a digital learning media that is easy for educators and students to use to carry out distance learning. Participants in the training activity were 302 elementary school teachers in Munjungan District, Trenggalek Regency. This training activity was carried out in a hybrid manner; offline activities were located at SMP N 1 Munjungan in Trenggalek Regency, and carried out simultaneously with online activities carried out via Zoom meeting. The training activities were carried out in several stages, namely preparation, implementation, and mentoring. The training activities were carried out in two sessions: presentation of material, questions and answers, and the next session was mentoring. The results of the training activities that had been carried out, participants were able to master knowledge and skills that exceeded the expected targets.

Review

This paper addresses a highly relevant and pressing need in contemporary education: the effective integration of digital learning media by elementary school teachers. The initiative to train 302 elementary school teachers in Trenggalek Regency on the use of the Padlet platform is commendable, especially given the identified challenges faced by teachers due to a lack of knowledge and training. The hybrid delivery model, combining offline sessions with online Zoom meetings, demonstrates a practical and scalable approach to reach a large number of participants. The stated outcome—that participants "were able to master knowledge and skills that exceeded the expected targets"—suggests a successful intervention in bridging the digital literacy gap among educators. While the abstract highlights a positive outcome, it lacks crucial methodological details that would allow for a thorough evaluation of the training's effectiveness and the validity of its claims. Specifically, the "expected targets" are not defined, nor is the method by which participants' mastery of knowledge and skills was assessed or quantified. Was there a pre- and post-assessment? What specific metrics or observable behaviors were used to determine that targets were "exceeded"? Furthermore, the abstract would benefit from a more detailed description of the training content beyond "presentation of material" and "mentoring," particularly regarding the pedagogical application of Padlet and how it addresses varied learning processes. Clarifying the specific difficulties teachers faced prior to training would also provide better context for the intervention's design. Despite these areas for further clarification, the initiative represents a valuable community service effort with significant potential impact. For future iterations or a more comprehensive journal publication, it would be beneficial to include quantitative data on teacher confidence and actual usage rates of Padlet in classrooms post-training, alongside qualitative insights into how the platform has enhanced student engagement and learning. Exploring the long-term sustainability of these skills and the ongoing support provided to teachers would also strengthen the narrative. This work lays a strong foundation for promoting digital literacy in elementary education, and a more rigorous reporting of its methodology and outcomes would greatly enhance its academic contribution.
