This research presents a timely and relevant endeavor to address the recognized deficiency in nursing English vocabulary among vocational high school students. The study's objective to develop a localized and globalized nursing English textbook, "Smart English for Nursing," and evaluate its effectiveness is clearly articulated. The adoption of the ADDIE Research & Development model provides a systematic framework for material development, ensuring a structured approach from analysis to evaluation. The reported positive validation by experts and high practicality ratings from students and teachers lend strong support to the quality and usability of the developed textbook. Crucially, the finding that the textbook significantly improves students' vocabulary knowledge, as evidenced by the statistical difference between experimental and control groups, highlights its immediate impact and value. While the abstract effectively conveys the study's design and primary outcomes, certain methodological details could benefit from further elaboration in a full manuscript. The data collection method is broadly stated as a "questionnaire," but clarifying whether this pertains to the practicality assessment, vocabulary pre/post-tests, or both would enhance understanding. Similarly, while a significant Sig. value of 0.000 is reported, specifying the particular statistical test employed (e.g., t-test, ANOVA) and including additional metrics such as mean scores, standard deviations, and perhaps an effect size, would provide a more robust picture of the intervention's impact. Elucidating how the "localization and globalization" aspects were specifically integrated into the textbook content and assessed would also add depth to the findings. Overall, this study makes a valuable contribution to English for Specific Purposes (ESP) pedagogy, particularly within the vocational nursing education context. The successful development and validation of a specialized textbook that demonstrably improves vocabulary knowledge offer a practical and readily applicable solution for SMKS Kesehatan Mutiara Mandiri Sungailiat and potentially other similar institutions. The research provides a strong foundation for improving the communicative competence of future nursing professionals. Future research could explore the long-term impact of the textbook on students' overall English proficiency, its transferability to different educational settings, and qualitative insights into student and teacher experiences with the localized and globalized content.
