This study endeavors to ascertain the level of interest in softball among elementary school students at SD Model Terpadu Madani Palu. Employing a descriptive survey methodology, the research utilized a questionnaire as its primary data collection instrument. A sample of 45 students, representing 20% of the total population across grades IV, V, and VI, participated in the study. The collected data were subsequently analyzed using quantitative descriptive analysis, with results presented in the form of percentages, aiming to provide a clear quantification of student engagement with the sport. The findings indicate a varied distribution of student interest, with the largest single category, 35% of the surveyed students, reporting a moderate level of interest in softball. Further disaggregation revealed that 7% of students expressed very high interest, 22% high interest, 29% low interest, and 7% very low interest. The study concludes by suggesting that schools should actively stimulate students' interests based on factors affecting potential and achievement. While these results offer a snapshot of student interest in a specific context, a significant methodological concern arises from the sampling technique. The abstract states the sample was selected "according to the researcher's desire," which implies a non-random and potentially biased selection process, thereby limiting the generalizability and robustness of the findings. In conclusion, while the study addresses a pertinent issue regarding student participation in extracurricular sports, its impact is somewhat constrained by the described sampling method. For future research, it would be highly beneficial to implement a more rigorous and representative sampling strategy to enhance the validity and reliability of the results. Additionally, greater detail on the questionnaire's development, including its validity and reliability, would strengthen the methodological foundation. Moving beyond mere quantification, exploring the underlying reasons for varying interest levels, perhaps through qualitative inquiry or by directly investigating the "factors that affect students' interest in achievement" mentioned, would offer richer, more actionable insights for schools aiming to foster greater student engagement in sports like softball.
