Providing exclusive asi to working mothers reviewed from motivational factors and length of parental leave at pt. Rhs seruyan district central kalimantan. This study explores the relationship between exclusive breastfeeding, maternal motivation, and parental leave length among working mothers at PT. RHS Seruyan, Central Kalimantan.
Exclusive breastfeeding is very important for the growth and development of babies. A mother's motivation is crucial in providing exclusive breastfeeding for six months. Apart from that, working mothers can be affected by insufficient time for maternity and maternity leave. The aim of this research is to determine the relationship between exclusive breastfeeding for working mothers in terms of motivation factors and length of maternity leave at PT.RHS, East Seruyan Regency, Central Kalimantan. The design of this research is observational analytics with a cross-sectional time approach. The sample in this study was 32 mothers who had babies aged > 6 months at PT.RHS East Seruyan Regency, Central Kalimantan. The sampling method used a simple random sampling technique. Data collection uses a questionnaire. Data analysis used the chi square statistical test. The research results showed that of the 32 respondents, the majority did not provide exclusive breastfeeding, 20 people (62.5%), the majority with low motivation, 18 people (56.3%), and most of them took the appropriate length of maternity leave (3 months). before giving birth 1.5 months and after giving birth 1.5 months, namely 17 people (53.1%).Data analysis using statistical tests with Chi Square shows that the significance level is 0.000 < α = 0.05 so that H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted, thus there is a relationship between exclusive breastfeeding for working mothers in terms of motivation factors and length of maternity leave at PT.RHS, Seruyan Regency. East, Central Kalimantan. Meanwhile, the results of the logistic regression test showed a relationship between motivation and length of maternity leave with exclusive breastfeeding at PT.RHS, Seruyan Regency, Central Kalimantan. The motivation variable has a stronger relationship with exclusive breastfeeding with an OR value of 24.686 compared to the length of maternity leave variable with an OR value of 16.941.It was concluded that the success factor in providing exclusive breastfeeding was low motivation and insufficient maternity and maternity leave. So it is necessary to strengthen the motivation of breastfeeding mothers so they can provide exclusive breast milk.
This manuscript addresses a crucial public health issue: exclusive breastfeeding (EBF) among working mothers, specifically at PT. RHS in Central Kalimantan. Utilizing an observational analytic, cross-sectional design with a sample of 32 mothers, the study effectively investigates the relationship between motivational factors, length of maternity leave, and EBF practices. The findings, derived from Chi-Square and logistic regression analyses, highlight that both low motivation and insufficient maternity leave are significantly associated with a lack of exclusive breastfeeding. Notably, the study identifies motivation as a stronger predictor (OR=24.686) than maternity leave (OR=16.941), providing valuable quantitative evidence within a specific organizational and regional context. This research is important for pinpointing critical areas for intervention to improve EBF rates in this vulnerable group. Despite its relevance, the study exhibits several methodological limitations that temper the generalizability and robustness of its conclusions. A primary concern is the very small sample size of 32 respondents, which significantly restricts the external validity of the findings and may lead to issues with statistical power, even if chi-square and logistic regression were employed. The cross-sectional design, while suitable for identifying associations, precludes the establishment of causal relationships or the understanding of temporal dynamics between motivation, leave duration, and breastfeeding outcomes. Furthermore, the abstract's statement that respondents "took the appropriate length of maternity leave (3 months)" yet concludes that "insufficient maternity and maternity leave" is a success factor for *low EBF* introduces a conceptual ambiguity that requires further clarification within the full paper. The abstract also lacks detail on the specific components of the 'motivation factors' measured, which could enhance the practical implications of the findings. In conclusion, this study provides a pertinent initial exploration into the determinants of exclusive breastfeeding among working mothers in a specific industrial setting. While the identified associations between motivation and maternity leave with EBF are valuable, particularly the finding that motivation is a stronger predictor, the limitations inherent in the small sample size and cross-sectional design prevent definitive causal inferences or broad generalizations. Future research would significantly benefit from a larger, more diverse sample to enhance generalizability, potentially employing a longitudinal design to track breastfeeding practices over time. Incorporating qualitative methods could also provide deeper insights into the complex interplay of motivational factors, workplace challenges, and personal support systems influencing breastfeeding decisions. Nonetheless, the current findings offer a solid foundation for developing targeted interventions and policy recommendations within PT.RHS, emphasizing the critical need to bolster maternal motivation and potentially reassess the adequacy of current leave provisions to support exclusive breastfeeding.
