Abstract

Objetivo: Investigar a relação entre práticas ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) e o desempenho financeiro de empresas situadas na região geoeconômica da Amazônia Legal, comparando-as com empresas brasileiras que não atuam nessa região. Método/abordagem: A pesquisa adota uma abordagem quantitativa, utilizando dados de 2020 a 2023. Foram coletadas informações ESG e financeiras por meio da base de dados da LSEG. A análise envolveu testes de comparação e regressões múltiplas, com controle para variáveis como tamanho das empresas e alavancagem financeira. Contribuições teóricas/práticas/sociais: O estudo contribui para a literatura ao evidenciar que o impacto das práticas ESG no desempenho financeiro varia conforme o contexto geográfico e institucional. Praticamente, fornece subsídios para gestores, investidores e formuladores de políticas entenderem a importância de adaptar estratégias ESG às realidades regionais, especialmente em áreas com desafios socioambientais relevantes como a Amazônia Legal. Originalidade/relevância: A originalidade da pesquisa reside na análise comparativa entre empresas da Amazônia Legal e de outras regiões do Brasil, destacando como a localização geográfica e os fatores institucionais podem afetar a eficácia das práticas ESG.
