Abstract

A correspondência inédita que pesquisamos foi enviada por Murilo Mendes (1901-1975) para Mário de Andrade (1893-1945), e encontra-se no acervo de Mário de Andrade no Instituto de Estudos Brasileiros (IEB) da Universidade de São Paulo (USP). Trata-se de trinta e dois documentos, entre cartas e bilhetes escritos à mão, enviados entre 1928 e 1944. As cartas, ao abarcarem um período de mais de dezesseis anos, abrangem uma fase extensa da produção dos dois poetas, fornecendo, assim, informações relevantes sobre dados históricos, biográficos e literários. Por conta da riqueza do material, foi necessário dividir o trabalho em algumas etapas, cabendo ao presente ensaio se dedicar à análise de cinco cartas, um bilhete e um telegrama (assinado também por Aníbal Machado), enviados por Murilo Mendes, entre 1931 e 1932, e de duas cartas de Mário de 1932. É necessário levar em consideração que a fragmentação e a dispersão congênitas ao gênero epistolar, apontadas por Moraes (2000) e Guimarães (2004), são ainda maiores, neste caso, por se tratar de uma parte das cartas enviadas por um único emitente.
