A web-based Make Up Artist (MUA) booking application prototype has been designed and developed for independent MUAs in West Semarang, utilizing the Agile Scrum method. This study stems from the difficulties prospective clients face in finding MUAs and the lack of service and domicile information, compounded by manual booking methods leading to scheduling irregularities. The objective is to provide an efficient and integrated online booking information system solution for MUA services. The methodology employed is Agile Scrum, with qualitative data collection through literature review and competitor analysis to identify necessary functional and non-functional requirements. A prioritized list of system features and functionalities has been compiled, serving as the basis for each Agile Scrum development sprint. The prototype successfully implemented core features such as registration, login, profile management, MUA and customer dashboards, MUA search, service booking, payment flow (COD/Transfer/QRIS), booking status notifications, MUA schedule management, admin dashboard, booking history, and MUA portfolio pages. While most core features function effectively, the booking cancellation feature still requires further improvement due to integration conflicts. This study concludes that the application successfully analyzed functional and non-functional requirements and implemented the aforementioned core features. The research contributes by providing an efficient and integrated online booking information system solution for MUA services, addressing information and digital booking management issues, particularly in the West Semarang area, and demonstrating the potential for dynamic adaptation through Agile Scrum.
This paper presents the design and development of a web-based Make Up Artist (MUA) booking application prototype specifically for independent MUAs in West Semarang, utilizing the Agile Scrum methodology. The research effectively identifies a significant pain point for both clients and MUAs: the difficulty in finding services, lack of detailed information, and inefficiencies arising from manual booking processes. The primary objective, to provide an efficient and integrated online booking information system, is clearly stated and well-aligned with the problem identified. The adoption of Agile Scrum is a commendable choice, suggesting a flexible and iterative approach to development that is well-suited for such user-centric applications. The study demonstrates a robust analytical approach, employing literature review and competitor analysis to derive essential functional and non-functional requirements. This thorough groundwork led to the successful implementation of a comprehensive set of core features, including user and MUA registration, profile management, MUA search, service booking with multiple payment options (COD/Transfer/QRIS), booking status notifications, and administrative dashboards. The application's ability to consolidate information, streamline booking, and manage schedules digitally represents a significant practical contribution, particularly for addressing information asymmetry and digital management issues within the specific geographical context of West Semarang. The use of Agile Scrum, as highlighted, further enhances the system's potential for dynamic adaptation and responsiveness to evolving user needs. While the paper highlights the successful implementation of most core features, it candidly acknowledges a critical limitation: the "booking cancellation feature still requires further improvement due to integration conflicts." This particular issue is significant, as a fully functional cancellation process is essential for user trust and a complete booking ecosystem. Future work should prioritize resolving this integration conflict to ensure a seamless user experience and robust system reliability. Additionally, while the focus on West Semarang is understandable for a prototype, discussing potential scalability, comprehensive user acceptance testing, and security considerations for payment processing in greater detail would strengthen the application's long-term viability and generalizability. Despite this noted area for improvement, the research offers a valuable contribution by providing a concrete solution to a real-world problem, demonstrating the practical application of Agile Scrum in developing a functional MUA booking platform.
