Abstract

Review

This paper presents a timely and relevant community outreach initiative focused on addressing social media insecurity and its impact on mental health among young individuals. Given the pervasive influence of social media and the rising concerns about mental well-being in the digital age, the topic of "Penyuluhan Kesehatan Mental Social Media Insecurity: Don’t Compare, Be Yourself" is highly pertinent. The abstract effectively highlights the problem of insecurity leading to stress, particularly in the context of societal pressures and technological advancements affecting youth aged 10-19. The aim of this program to equip participants with strategies to navigate these challenges is commendable and aligns with critical public health objectives. The methodology employed, an experimental design with pre-test and post-test administered to 108 participants, primarily students, offers a structured approach to evaluating the program's immediate impact. The core finding—a reported increase in participant knowledge and understanding—is a positive indicator of the outreach's effectiveness in imparting crucial information. While the abstract mentions participants comprising both "mahasiswa maupun non mahasiswa" alongside the initial mention of 108 students, a precise breakdown would enhance clarity regarding the target demographic. The abstract also effectively outlines the diverse contributing factors to insecurity, from genetic predispositions to overthinking, and provides a practical list of coping mechanisms, suggesting a comprehensive approach within the outreach content. Overall, this community service activity demonstrates a valuable effort to proactively address a significant mental health concern in a vulnerable population. The positive pre-post test results suggest that educational interventions can play a vital role in enhancing mental health literacy regarding social media insecurity. For future presentations or full manuscripts, it would be beneficial to elaborate on the specific content and delivery methods of the outreach, as well as the instruments used to measure "knowledge" and "understanding" more precisely. This work contributes meaningfully to the field of community mental health education and provides a good foundation for potentially larger-scale interventions or longitudinal studies.
