Review

This paper, titled 'Penyuluhan Hukum Mengenai Restorative Justice Dalam Pelaksanaan Diversi Terhadap Anak Berkonflik Dengan Hukum di Biak Kota,' addresses a highly relevant and critical area: the application of restorative justice principles and diversion for children in conflict with the law. The focus on legal counseling (penyuluhan hukum) and community engagement in Biak Kota is commendable, as community understanding and participation are crucial for the effective implementation of child-friendly justice systems. The work is presented as a community service (pengabdian) activity, aiming to educate the public on these important legal concepts. The methodology, described as a counseling activity using lectures and question-and-answer sessions, is an appropriate and practical approach for disseminating legal knowledge to the community. The abstract indicates a positive initial outcome, where the community reportedly began to grasp their role in the process. This suggests that the outreach effort successfully initiated a dialogue and raised awareness regarding the treatment of children in conflict with the law, highlighting the potential for positive social impact in promoting the best interests of the child. However, a significant and critical concern arises from the repeated use of the term "diskriminasi" (discrimination) in the abstract, particularly in sentences describing the community's role in applying this toward children for their best interests. Given the context of restorative justice and diversion, it is highly probable that the intended term was "diversi" (diversion) or a related concept like non-discriminatory treatment. The current phrasing fundamentally alters the meaning and contradicts the foundational principles of children's rights and restorative justice, which advocate for fair, non-discriminatory, and rehabilitative approaches. It is imperative that the authors meticulously review and correct this terminology throughout the entire manuscript to ensure conceptual accuracy and avoid conveying a message antithetical to the stated goals. Furthermore, clarifying the nature of the work as 'pengabdian' (community service) rather than solely 'penelitian' (research) in the abstract would more accurately represent its scope.
