Abstract

Bono Village, located in Tulung District, Klaten Regency, Central Java, has great potential for local economic development through shibori training. The aim of the shibori making training is to provide experience to PKK women as women agents of Pancasila so that they can be used to help the village community's economy. This shibori program has important value because it focuses on empowerment through skill development. The method used in making shibori is done using a training method. The research results show that the importance of the role of women as Pancasila agents in the public sphere is related to how women carry out their social life, such as in the context of work, business, PKK activities, posyandu activities, social gatherings, recital studies and other social activities. The PKK women were very enthusiastic about implementing shibori. The pattern on the fabric produced corresponds to the result of the binding or folding carried out during the shibori making process. Activity evaluation shows that the ties in the Shibori technique must be done with precision so that they are not too loose or too tight. Techniques such as itajime (triangle), itajime (square), swirl, kumo, kanoko, and twist each have their own challenges in terms of tying and folding the fabric.

Review

This article presents an engaging and timely initiative focused on enhancing creativity and local economic empowerment among women in Bono Village, Klaten, through shibori training. The project effectively targets PKK women, identified as "Pancasila Women Agents," leveraging their existing community roles for broader impact. The stated aim to provide practical experience for local economic development is commendable, highlighting a valuable approach to skill development as a cornerstone of empowerment. The abstract clearly establishes the program's relevance and its potential to contribute to community welfare, setting a positive foundation for a practical, community-oriented intervention. The methodology employed, described as a training method, is appropriate for the nature of this community empowerment program. The abstract notes the enthusiastic participation of PKK women and delves into the practical aspects of shibori, detailing the importance of precise tying and folding, and mentioning various techniques such as itajime, swirl, kumo, kanoko, and twist. However, the "research results" section in the abstract primarily elaborates on the general importance of women's roles in various social activities rather than directly presenting outcomes related to *increased creativity* or *economic empowerment* specifically stemming from the shibori training. While this contextualizes the target group, a clearer articulation of how the training directly translated into these two core objectives would strengthen the findings presented. Overall, the initiative demonstrates significant merit as a community development project. Its strengths lie in its practical approach to skill-building, engagement with an active local women's group, and the inherent potential for local economic diversification. For future iterations or a more comprehensive academic publication, it would be beneficial to include more specific metrics or qualitative evidence directly linking the shibori training to the stated goals of "Peningkatan Kreativitas dan Pemberdayaan Ekonomi Lokal." This could involve pre/post assessments of creativity, evidence of new income-generating activities, or testimonials regarding economic benefits. Despite this, the abstract effectively conveys the enthusiasm and practical learning achieved, underscoring the valuable role of such interventions in fostering community resilience and skill development.
