Abstract

The high level of unemployment among university graduates in Indonesia is a seriously problem that negatively impacts various aspects, including the economic aspect. On the other hand, many universities want to become entrepreneurial university, including UNP. One of the efforts to address this problem is to encourage students to become entrepreneurs. To become an entrepreneur, entrepreneurial intention is needed. The main problem of this research is the low entrepreneurial intention of UNP students. With the research objective to analyze the influence of entrepreneurial mindset and self-efficacy on students' intention to entrepreneurship, used a causal research type. 400 students were sampled for this study, employed a simple random sampling technique, and used a questionnaire as the instrument. Multiple linear regression was used as the data analysis technique, with results showed that both entrepreneurial mindset and self-efficacy had simultaneously and partially effects on the intention to entrepreneurship.

This paper addresses a critical issue of graduate unemployment in Indonesia and the aspiration of universities, such as Universitas Negeri Padang (UNP), to foster an entrepreneurial spirit among their students. The core problem identified is the low entrepreneurial intention among UNP students, which is a significant barrier to mitigating graduate unemployment. The research precisely aims to investigate the influence of entrepreneurial mindset and self-efficacy on this crucial entrepreneurial intention, providing valuable insights into potential intervention areas. Employing a causal research design, the study meticulously sampled 400 students using a simple random sampling technique, ensuring a representative sample from the UNP student body. Data collection was facilitated through a structured questionnaire, and subsequently analyzed using multiple linear regression. The findings robustly demonstrate that both entrepreneurial mindset and self-efficacy significantly influence students' entrepreneurial intention, not only when considered simultaneously but also through their individual partial effects. The results of this study offer direct and actionable insights for educational institutions, particularly those striving to become entrepreneurial universities. By confirming the significant roles of entrepreneurial mindset and self-efficacy, the research underscores the importance of developing these attributes among students to cultivate entrepreneurial intention. This paper provides a clear empirical basis for designing targeted educational programs and support initiatives aimed at fostering entrepreneurship among graduates, thereby contributing meaningfully to addressing the pressing issue of graduate unemployment in Indonesia.
