Introduction

Abstract

Kajian ini dimotivasi oleh masih minimnya kajian yang melihat pergeseran penafsiran ayat-ayat yang bersifat teologis-metafisis dalam Al-Qur’an, termasuk ayat-ayat tentang surga yang dikombinasikan dengan pendekatan teori filsafat. Oleh karena itu, maka peneliti tertarikuntuk mengkaji tema ini lebih lanjut. Kajian ini menjelaskan tentang pergeseran paradigma penafsiran ilustrasi surga dalam tafsir Indonesia, yakni M. Quraish Shihab. Teori yang digunakan adalah dengan teori pergeseran paradigma yang diintrodusir oleh Thomas Khun. Kesimpulan artikel ini menunjukkan bahwa ada pergeseran pemaknaan ilustrasi surga dalam tafsir al-Misbah karya M. Quraish Shihab, yaitu pada tema 1) Luas surga ; 2) Sungai yang mengalir di bawah surga ; 3) Buah-buahan di surga ; 4) Pasangan dan bidadari di surga ; dan 5) Warna hijau dan perhiasan bagi manusia di surga. Dalam memahami tema-tema tersebut M. Quraish Shihab cenderung rasionalis dan kontekstualis menyesuaikan dengan konteks kekinian. Pemikiran yang memotivasi argumentasi penafsirannya adalah tidak terlepas dari historisitas pengalaman hidupnya, seperti karir intelektualnya, pengalaman keorganisasiannya, guru-gurunya dan masyarakat Indonesia sebagai sasaran tafsirnya. Maka semua itu, menjadi regulasi dan panoptiasasi dalam membentuk nalar intelektualnya, termasuk dalam penafsiran tentang ayat-ayat yang mengilustrasikan surga.
