Literature analysis on improving science literacy through an inquiry-based learning approach for students. Explore how inquiry-based learning effectively boosts students' science literacy, fostering critical thinking & engagement. Discover solutions to common challenges.
Scientific literacy is a crucial part of measuring the progress of an educational process. However, to improve scientific literacy skills, it is necessary to understand how scientific literacy can be developed in the learning process. The purpose of this study is to provide an overview of improving students' scientific literacy through an inquiry-based learning approach. Data were collected through library research from various sources, including books, journals, and previous research findings. The results indicate that inquiry-based learning is effective in improving students' scientific literacy. This study demonstrates that inquiry-based learning can help students become more engaged and active in the learning process. It can also improve their critical and analytical thinking skills. This study found that inquiry-based learning methods still provide significant benefits in improving students' scientific literacy, despite several constraints, such as the amount of time required and limited availability of tools. Group learning, the use of lecture techniques, discussions, and technology such as online learning platforms are some of the suggested solutions.
This literature analysis explores the critical role of inquiry-based learning in enhancing students' scientific literacy, a fundamental measure of educational progress. The study's primary objective is to synthesize existing literature to provide a comprehensive overview of how this pedagogical approach contributes to developing scientific literacy skills. Utilizing a robust library research methodology, the authors systematically gathered data from diverse academic sources, including books, journals, and previous research, to build a strong foundation for their conclusions. The findings of this review strongly affirm the efficacy of inquiry-based learning in improving students' scientific literacy. The authors highlight that this approach fosters greater student engagement and active participation, crucial elements for deeper understanding. Furthermore, the study effectively demonstrates how inquiry-based learning cultivates essential critical and analytical thinking skills, which are integral to scientific understanding. Notably, the review acknowledges practical constraints such as time requirements and limited resources, yet still concludes that the significant benefits outweigh these challenges. To mitigate the identified constraints, the paper proposes pragmatic solutions such as incorporating group learning, strategic use of lecture and discussion techniques, and leveraging technology through online learning platforms. These recommendations underscore a practical orientation, aiming to make inquiry-based learning more accessible and sustainable in diverse educational settings. Overall, this literature analysis provides a valuable synthesis of current knowledge, reaffirming the strong potential of inquiry-based learning to significantly advance scientific literacy among students, while also offering actionable strategies for implementation.
