Abstract

Failure to thrive is experienced by a child whose height does not match his age, often called stunting. Stunting is a health problem that will impact the future of a nation because one of the benchmarks of a country that is said to be developed is that the country has a healthy and bright generation. Currently, Indonesia is faced with the problem of the high prevalence of stunting toddlers from 2021 by 24.4% to 2022 to 21.6%, which has only decreased by 2.8%. The decrease has not reached the target of 14% in 2024. This study aims to describe and analyze the efforts of the Lingga Village government to accelerate stunting reduction using qualitative research methods. The research showed that the Lingga Village government's efforts to reduce stunting were through socialization, growth monitoring, development monitoring, sanitation, and clean water.

Review

This manuscript addresses the critical issue of stunting, a significant health challenge in Indonesia with long-term implications for national development. The study's focus on the efforts of the Lingga Village government to accelerate stunting reduction is particularly pertinent, as local-level interventions are crucial for addressing such complex public health problems. Utilizing a qualitative research methodology, the paper aims to describe and analyze the strategies employed by the village, identifying key initiatives such as socialization, growth and development monitoring, and improvements in sanitation and clean water access. The topic is timely and relevant given the national target to substantially reduce stunting prevalence by 2024. While the abstract clearly outlines the study's objective and general findings, several areas could benefit from further detail to strengthen the overall contribution. The identified efforts – socialization, monitoring, sanitation, and clean water – represent standard public health interventions. A qualitative study of this nature would be significantly enhanced by delving deeper into *how* these efforts are implemented within the Lingga Village context. For instance, what specific challenges did the government face during implementation? What were the community's perceptions of these initiatives? Furthermore, while the abstract mentions a national reduction target, it does not indicate whether the study will assess the *effectiveness* or *impact* of these efforts on Lingga Village's stunting rates, even if preliminary or perceived. Understanding the *mechanisms* of success or failure would elevate the analysis beyond a mere description of activities. To maximize its impact, the full paper should explicitly detail the qualitative research design, including the specific participants (e.g., village officials, health workers, community leaders), data collection methods, and the analytical framework used to move from description to analysis. A discussion of the perceived outcomes, challenges, and any emergent best practices or lessons learned from Lingga Village's experience would be invaluable for other local governments. Finally, situating the findings within a relevant theoretical framework (e.g., health promotion, community participation, governance) would provide a stronger analytical lens. Addressing these points would transform the paper from a descriptive account into a more robust and insightful contribution to the literature on local governance and stunting reduction strategies.
