Effectiveness of learning management system (lms) in improving student learning independence. Evaluate Learning Management System (LMS) effectiveness in improving student learning independence. Explore its impact on motivation, time management & critical thinking skills.
The rapid advancement of educational technology has significantly transformed learning methodologies, with Learning Management Systems (LMS) playing a crucial role in facilitating self-directed learning. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of LMS in enhancing students' learning independence by examining its impact on motivation, time management, and critical thinking skills. Using a mixed-method approach, data was collected from students utilizing LMS platforms through surveys, interviews, and performance assessments. The findings indicate that LMS positively influences students' ability to learn independently by providing structured content, interactive resources, and self-assessment tools. Moreover, the flexibility of LMS allows students to learn at their own pace, fostering a sense of responsibility and autonomy. However, challenges such as digital literacy and motivation gaps remain significant barriers. The study concludes that while LMS contributes to improving learning independence, its effectiveness depends on user engagement and institutional support. Recommendations for optimizing LMS implementation include personalized learning paths, gamification, and enhanced teacher-student interaction.
This study critically examines the "Effectiveness of Learning Management System (LMS) in Improving Student Learning Independence," a highly pertinent area in contemporary education. The authors utilized a mixed-method approach, gathering data through surveys, interviews, and performance assessments to evaluate the LMS's impact on student motivation, time management, and critical thinking skills. The findings generally suggest that LMS positively influences students' self-directed learning abilities by providing structured content, interactive resources, and self-assessment tools, fostering autonomy and responsibility due to its inherent flexibility. A notable strength of this research lies in its robust mixed-methodology, which allows for a comprehensive and nuanced exploration of the multifaceted relationship between LMS usage and student independence. By triangulating data from various sources, the study provides compelling evidence for the positive contributions of LMS to crucial learning attributes. The identification of specific features like structured content and self-assessment tools as key drivers of independence offers valuable practical implications for educators and LMS developers aiming to design more effective self-directed learning environments. However, the study also commendably highlights significant challenges, such as digital literacy and motivation gaps, which remain barriers to the full realization of LMS potential. The conclusion that effectiveness is contingent on user engagement and institutional support is a critical insight, offering a realistic perspective on implementation. The recommendations for optimizing LMS, including personalized learning paths, gamification, and enhanced teacher-student interaction, are well-considered and provide actionable directions for future pedagogical practice and research. Further studies could delve deeper into the specific mechanisms through which these recommendations mitigate identified barriers or explore the long-term impact of sustained LMS use on diverse student populations.
