Abstract

This chronicle, "Crónica de la quinta Clínica de Investigadores en Derecho Animal," effectively documents the fifth edition of the Clinic for Researchers in Animal Law, an significant event co-organized by the dARC research group and the DALPS-Tirant lo Blanch legal journal. Held from January to May 2026, the Clinic successfully convened a robust international gathering of academics from Latin America and Europe. The abstract positions this event as a consolidated and crucial academic platform for critical reflection on Animal Law, underscoring its growing relevance and the collaborative efforts driving its advancement. The abstract highlights a comprehensive and timely selection of topics addressed during the Clinic. These included pressing issues such as the relationship between animals and religion, animal protection in natural disaster contexts with a specific reference to Brazil, and the representation of animals in media. A particularly commendable aspect of this edition was the introduction of novel sessions dedicated to the analysis of animals in literature and the complex legal challenges concerning the marine environment. This expansion into interdisciplinary and emerging fields reflects a forward-thinking approach to Animal Law, broadening its scope and academic reach. Overall, this chronicle provides a valuable summary of a substantial academic event that attracted over two hundred registered participants, alongside fifteen esteemed speakers and moderators. Its strength lies in clearly articulating the diverse themes and innovative sessions, thereby illustrating the dynamic and progressively interdisciplinary nature of contemporary Animal Law research.
