Review

This paper, titled 'Counseling on the Legal Basis Regulating the Reduction of Stunting Rates in Dondang Subdistrict,' addresses a critical public health issue by exploring the role of legal frameworks in combating stunting. The primary aim of the initiative described is to enhance community understanding of stunting and to contribute to its reduction, specifically focusing on the legal underpinnings governing such efforts. The urgency of this work is highlighted by the identification of 11 stunting cases within Dondang Subdistrict, encompassing children registered at both Posyandu Lumba-Lumba and Posyandu Mujair, underscoring a localized need for intervention. Employing a qualitative methodology, the study utilized a direct counseling approach, wherein educational materials on the legal basis for stunting reduction were presented to the target community. A significant finding from this intervention was the widespread lack of comprehension among residents regarding the existing legal regulations pertaining to stunting prevention and reduction. However, the counseling sessions proved effective in bridging this knowledge gap, as evidenced by the reported increase in awareness among mothers of toddlers concerning these crucial legal frameworks. This suggests that direct educational interventions, even qualitative in nature, can yield positive immediate outcomes in community understanding. While the paper effectively demonstrates the importance of legal literacy in public health initiatives and the positive impact of targeted counseling, it also acknowledges that stunting remains a serious problem. The abstract concludes by suggesting that future research efforts should be 'more optimal,' which implies a need for deeper investigation, broader scope, or more rigorous evaluation of interventions. To enhance the contribution of future work, it would be beneficial to include more specific metrics of 'optimality,' such as quantitative assessments of knowledge retention, behavioral changes, or actual stunting rate reductions over time. Overall, this paper serves as a valuable initial step in highlighting the often-overlooked legal dimension of public health campaigns and provides a foundation for more comprehensive community-based interventions.
