Classical guidance as an effective solution to overcome bullying behavior at smpn 1 juntinyuat. Discover how classical guidance effectively reduces bullying at SMPN 1 Juntinyuat. This program boosts student awareness of bullying forms, impacts, and prevention skills for a safer school environment.
Bullying in schools is a serious problem that negatively impacts students' mental and physical health and academic achievement. This research was motivated by the high incidence of bullying and the lack of understanding of this issue among students at SMPN 1 Juntinyuat. To address these challenges, the Community Service Program team implemented an Anti-Bullying Classical Guidance program as a preventive and rehabilitative measure. The program's primary objective was to raise students' awareness of the definition, forms, and negative impacts of bullying, as well as to provide them with skills to prevent and address it. The implementation method used was interactive classical guidance, a combination of lectures, group discussions, and Q&A sessions centered on 9th-grade students (approximately 290 participants). The program's effectiveness was measured quantitatively by comparing pre-test and post-test scores using Normalized Gain (N-Gain) analysis. The results showed a significant increase in understanding, with an average N-Gain score of 0.95, categorized as High. This achievement confirms that classical guidance is effective in transferring anti-bullying knowledge and provides a strong foundation for creating a safe and supportive school environment.
This paper addresses a critically important issue: the prevalence and negative impact of bullying in schools, specifically focusing on the context of SMPN 1 Juntinyuat. The authors effectively highlight the urgency of the problem, citing both a high incidence of bullying and a documented lack of student understanding regarding this issue. In response, the study proposes and evaluates an Anti-Bullying Classical Guidance program, implemented as a community service initiative. The core objective of this intervention was to enhance students' awareness of bullying's various facets—its definition, forms, and negative impacts—and to equip them with essential prevention and intervention skills, aiming to foster a safer school environment. The methodology employed for this research is commendably clear and practical. The program utilized interactive classical guidance, a well-established educational approach combining lectures, group discussions, and Q&A sessions, targeting a substantial cohort of approximately 290 9th-grade students. This method is well-suited for disseminating information and encouraging engagement on sensitive topics. Crucially, the program's effectiveness was rigorously assessed using a quantitative pre-test and post-test design, with learning gains analyzed via Normalized Gain (N-Gain). This analytical approach provides a robust measure of the increase in student understanding, effectively gauging the program's success in knowledge acquisition, which was its primary objective. The findings from this intervention are strikingly positive, demonstrating a significant increase in student understanding with an average N-Gain score of 0.95, categorized as High. This strong result convincingly supports the authors' conclusion that classical guidance is indeed an effective mechanism for transferring vital anti-bullying knowledge and providing a strong foundation for a safe school environment. The study offers compelling evidence for the immediate impact of such programs on student awareness. For future work, it would be highly beneficial to explore the long-term sustainability of this knowledge and, more importantly, to investigate the extent to which this enhanced understanding translates into observable changes in bullying behavior and a measurable reduction in bullying incidents over time. Furthermore, examining the scalability of this program to other school settings or grade levels could provide valuable insights for broader implementation strategies.
