Analysis of political reciprocity in the coalition strategy of prabowo-gibran in the 2024 general election . Analisis strategi koalisi Prabowo-Gibran di Pemilu 2024 melalui resiprositas politik & teori pertukaran sosial. Pahami pertukaran sumber daya & dampak basis pemilih.
This study aims to examine the political coalition between Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka in the 2024 Presidential Election, using the concepts of political reciprocity and social exchange theory. The coalition brings together two figures with distinct characteristics and voter bases: Prabowo, an experienced political figure with a conservative voter base, and Gibran, a younger figure targeting progressive voters, particularly from the millennial and Gen Z generations. This research highlights the relationship between the two figures in forming a mutually beneficial coalition through strategic political resource exchanges. The introduction outlines the importance of political coalitions in the 2024 election as a key factor for victory. The coalition between Prabowo and Gibran aims to combine their political strengths and maximize electoral opportunities. The social exchange theory applied in this study reveals that the coalition is essentially a transaction involving the exchange of political resources between the involved parties. This includes political support, legitimacy, and access to a wider voter network. Additionally, the study investigates the role of media in introducing and shaping the political image of both figures. Mass media, both traditional and social, plays a crucial role in shaping public perception of the political alliance and influencing voter opinions ahead of the election. The analysis also examines how the coalition impacts the dynamics of political parties, with Gerindra and Golkar playing pivotal roles in supporting the pair. By applying political reciprocity and social exchange theories, this study offers insights into how political alliance strategies function in the context of Indonesia's 2024 election.
This study proposes a timely and highly relevant examination of the Prabowo-Gibran coalition in the 2024 Indonesian Presidential Election, utilizing the theoretical lenses of political reciprocity and social exchange theory. The abstract clearly outlines an aim to dissect how this alliance, bringing together figures with distinct political profiles and voter bases—an experienced conservative leader and a younger, progressive-leaning candidate—was formed and sustained through strategic political resource exchanges. The focus on understanding coalition dynamics as a transaction of support, legitimacy, and access to voter networks positions the research to offer valuable insights into contemporary Indonesian political maneuvering. A significant strength of the proposed research lies in its specific focus on the strategic interplay between contrasting political figures and their respective electorates. The intention to analyze the mutually beneficial nature of the coalition through a social exchange framework promises a structured approach to understanding political alliances. Furthermore, the abstract highlights important dimensions that enrich the analysis, including the crucial role of traditional and social media in shaping public perception and the impact of the coalition on the dynamics of key political parties like Gerindra and Golkar. These elements suggest a comprehensive scope that goes beyond a mere descriptive account to delve into the functional aspects of political alliance-building. While the theoretical framework and scope are well-defined, the success of this study will hinge on the methodological rigor applied to empirically demonstrating "political reciprocity" and "resource exchange." A thorough analysis would ideally specify the types of political resources exchanged, how their value and reciprocation are measured or inferred, and the potential temporal aspects of these exchanges. Given the high-stakes nature of the election and the public profiles of the figures involved, ensuring an objective analysis that considers potential power imbalances or implicit agreements, beyond simple transactions, will be crucial. Further details on the research design and data collection methods would illuminate how these complex theoretical concepts are translated into concrete analytical steps, ultimately enhancing the study's contribution to understanding alliance strategies in competitive political environments.
