Celem artykułu jest zaprezentowanie związków Ambrożego Grabowskiego, krakowskiego księgarza, antykwariusza i kolekcjonera, z Towarzystwem Naukowym Krakowskim. Wybrany 18 marca 1837 roku członkiem czynnym dokładał wszelkich starań, aby do grona TNK przyjmowani byli ludzie nauki i kultury godni tego wyróżnienia. Dzięki niemu w poczet członków korespondentów Towarzystwa przyjęci zostali Antoni Oleszczyński, artysta sztuki rytowniczej, i Wojciech Albert Sowiński, pianista i kompozytor. Tekst ukazuje Ambrożego Grabowskiego jako darczyńcę i ofiarodawcę na rzecz TNK. Dary przez niego ofiarowane to datki pieniężne, prace własnego autorstwa, a także materiały archiwalne oraz artefakty zbierane i gromadzone przez niego na przestrzeni lat.
