Abstract

Questo articolo riconsidera la pratica artistica dell’artista e antropologa italiana Fiamma Montezemolo, adottando una prospettiva riconducibile ai Border Studies e ai Postcolonial Studies, all’interno della quale confluiscono approcci filosofici, geografici e antropologici. La metodologia adottata riflette la natura polifonica del lavoro di Montezemolo, che integra il sapere e i metodi derivati dalla sua formazione antropologica con la ricerca artistica, al fine di esplorare tematiche legate all’identità, all’appartenenza e alle realtà territoriali. Dopo aver delineato le origini del suo percorso, l’articolo analizza quattro opere che affrontano, da angolazioni e metodologie differenti, il tema dei confini territoriali, con particolare attenzione al confine tra Messico e Stati Uniti e all’identità intesa come categoria fluida e in trasformazione.
