Abstract

Bullying at SDN 1 Cipancuh, Cipancuh Village, Indramayu, is an issue that needs to be addressed immediately due to its widespread negative impacts, ranging from mental health problems (low self-esteem, fear) to decreased learning motivation and student attendance rates. This Community Service Program (KKN) activity primarily aims to measure and improve sixth grade students' understanding of the dangers of bullying and train them in self-prevention strategies and positive interventions. The method applied is Classical Guidance (Socialization) combined with the innovative media Bully Box Game, a role-playing simulation that educates participants on how to fight bullying without violence. The program targets 21 sixth grade students. Evaluation of the program's effectiveness was conducted through quantitative Pre-test and Post-test instruments. The results of the data analysis showed a very significant increase in understanding, with the average score of participants increasing from 66.7 to 90.5. The Normalized Gain (⟨g⟩) analysis averaged 0.8 (or 79.4%), which is statistically classified as Highly Effective. These findings confirm that an educational approach combined with interactive simulations is highly effective in transferring anti-bullying knowledge in a short time. This program is recommended to be integrated into school policies to create a child-friendly and bullying-free learning environment.

Review

The paper "Use of Bully Box Media to Prevent Bullying Cases in Schools in Cipancuh Village" tackles a critical and pervasive issue within primary education: school bullying. The abstract effectively highlights the severe negative consequences of bullying, from mental health issues and reduced self-esteem to decreased academic motivation and attendance, thereby establishing the urgent need for intervention. The authors present a community service program designed to address these challenges among sixth-grade students, utilizing an innovative combination of classical guidance and an interactive "Bully Box Game." This approach is particularly commendable for its potential to engage students actively in learning anti-bullying strategies. The methodology adopted, which includes a blend of traditional socialization with a role-playing simulation, provides a practical and potentially engaging framework for educating young students. Targeting a specific cohort of 21 sixth-grade students, the program aimed to enhance their understanding of bullying's dangers and equip them with non-violent prevention skills. The quantitative evaluation, based on pre-test and post-test scores, offers compelling evidence of the program's immediate efficacy. The reported increase in average scores from 66.7 to 90.5, alongside a Normalized Gain (⟨g⟩) of 0.8 (79.4%), robustly supports the claim that this educational strategy is "Highly Effective" in transferring anti-bullying knowledge within a short timeframe. While the abstract clearly demonstrates the immediate and significant improvements in student understanding, it would be beneficial for the full paper to discuss potential limitations, such as the short-term nature of the evaluation and the specific context of a single school, which might influence the generalizability of the findings. Future research could explore the long-term retention of this knowledge and the observed impact on actual bullying incidents within the school environment. Nevertheless, the strong quantitative results presented provide a compelling argument for integrating such interactive educational programs into school policies, fostering more child-friendly and bullying-free learning environments. This paper offers valuable insights into effective, interactive anti-bullying interventions at the primary school level.
