Transformasi koridor menjadi ruang sosial: studi perilaku penghuni rusun mranggen, kabupaten sleman. Studi perilaku penghuni Rusun Mranggen Sleman tentang transformasi koridor menjadi ruang pribadi.
This paper, 'TRANSFORMASI KORIDOR MENJADI RUANG SOSIAL,' presents a compelling qualitative study on the adaptive use of corridors in vertical housing, specifically in Mranggen Flats, Sleman. It addresses a pertinent issue in high-density living environments: the divergence between the intended function of communal spaces and their actual utilization by residents. The abstract effectively introduces the phenomenon where corridors, designed for circulation, are transformed into extensions of private living space due to spatial constraints within individual units. This exploration into resident behavior in response to limited private space offers valuable insights into the dynamic interplay between architectural design and human needs, making the study highly relevant for urban planners, architects, and social scientists concerned with the livability of vertical housing. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, the research meticulously gathered data through direct observation, in-depth interviews, visual documentation, and a thorough literature review. This multi-faceted methodology provides a strong foundation for understanding the complex behaviors and motivations behind the corridor's transformation. The findings clearly indicate that a significant majority of residents appropriate the corridor for more private functions, such as storage, clothes drying, and even receiving guests. This adaptation, while fulfilling immediate daily needs, is shown to negatively impact communal circulation, reduce overall comfort in shared spaces, and fundamentally alter the perceived boundaries between public and private domains within the building. The study's conclusions carry significant implications for future architectural and urban planning practices. It strongly advocates for a re-evaluation of communal space design in vertical housing, urging designers to incorporate greater flexibility to accommodate residents' evolving needs without compromising the essential social function and spatial efficiency of the building. This research serves as a crucial reminder that successful housing solutions must not only provide shelter but also adapt to the lived realities and behavioral patterns of their inhabitants. Future research could potentially explore specific design interventions or participatory design processes that actively involve residents in shaping these transitional spaces, further bridging the gap between design intent and user experience.
