Review

The paper "Trade Ethics in the Qur'an According to Tafsir al-Munir by Wahbah Az-Zuhaili" promises a timely and relevant exploration into the foundational Islamic principles guiding commercial transactions. By centering its analysis on Wahbah Az-Zuhaili's esteemed *Tafsir al-Munir*, the research aims to delineate Qur'anic trade ethics, with a clear objective of fostering welfare-supporting practices and mitigating unethical conduct among Muslim traders. The stated qualitative, literature-based methodology, employing a descriptive-analytical approach with thematic interpretation, appears appropriate for this exegetical and conceptual investigation. The abstract effectively highlights the study's key findings, revealing a dual understanding of trade in the Qur'an: encompassing both human interaction with the Divine and interpersonal commercial dealings. For the latter, the research identifies five core principles—unity, balance, free will, responsibility, and truth (virtue and honesty)—which form a comprehensive ethical framework. Furthermore, it details how Az-Zuhaili's interpretation connects these principles to *muamalah fiqh*, outlining specific guidelines for behavior, including the validity of transactions, justice, usury prohibition, property management, transparency, and contractual integrity. This study's strength lies in its systematic approach to deriving practical ethical guidelines directly from a respected tafsir, offering a valuable resource for Muslims engaged in commerce. The detailed enumeration of both foundational principles and practical *fiqh* guidelines suggests a robust and actionable contribution. The stated goal of practically contributing to daily commercial life, by requiring adherence to Qur'anic guidelines, underscores the paper's potential to bridge religious scholarship with real-world economic practice, thereby promoting more ethical and responsible trade within Muslim communities.
