Review

The paper "SYARḤ KITĀB AL-ARBA’ĪN AL-NAWAWIYYAH ON YOUTUBE: A STUDY OF INDONESIAN MUSLIM SCHOLARS’ INTERPRETATIONS ON HADITH BID’AH" addresses a highly pertinent and contemporary topic at the intersection of religious studies, digital media, and Islamic hermeneutics. The abstract clearly articulates the increasing accessibility of religious information through platforms like YouTube and specifically identifies the study of *hadith bid'ah* within the context of *Al-Arba’īn Al-Nawawiyyah* as its core subject. The research aims to explore how Indonesian Muslim scholars interpret *bid'ah* on this platform and the subsequent implications of these interpretations, setting a clear and relevant scope for investigation in an era where religious discourse is heavily mediated by technology. Employing a qualitative research design with a descriptive-analytical method, the study appropriately seeks to delve into the nuances of interpretive approaches rather than quantitative measures. The abstract highlights significant findings, particularly that *bid'ah* requires a more nuanced understanding beyond a purely textual interpretation that would categorically reject all new phenomena. Furthermore, it notes that the interpretations analyzed include critiques of groups that adhere strictly to a literalist understanding of *bid'ah*. This suggests a valuable contribution to understanding the internal intellectual debates and dynamic nature of Islamic scholarship, particularly in the Indonesian context, as it navigates tradition and modernity through digital spaces. A key strength of this research lies in its engagement with the evolving landscape of *da’wah* and religious education, making it timely and impactful. By focusing on Indonesian scholars' interpretations of *bid'ah* via YouTube, the study offers insights into how complex theological concepts are conveyed, debated, and consumed in the digital sphere, and how scholars attempt to bridge classical texts with contemporary realities. The findings have important implications for understanding religious pluralism within Islam, the role of digital platforms in shaping religious discourse, and the continuous effort to re-contextualize scriptural injunctions for modern audiences. This work promises to be a valuable addition to scholarship on digital Islam, hadith studies, and Indonesian religious thought.
