Review

The article "STIGMA MASYARAKAT TERHADAP PENDERITA GANGGUAN JIWA" addresses a critically important and timely public health concern: the pervasive societal stigma experienced by individuals with mental disorders. The abstract effectively highlights the detrimental consequences of such stigma, linking it to a lack of understanding that fosters discriminatory practices and hinders the provision of appropriate support. The paper's objective to identify and understand the extent of community stigma is clear, directly addressing a fundamental barrier to effective mental health care and social inclusion. The research employs a literature review methodology, drawing from a broad base of resources, including 26 national journals, 2 international journals, and 1 book, totaling 29 sources. It is noted that findings from 11 specific articles were synthesized. While the comprehensive nature of the initial source pool is commendable, providing more detail on the selection criteria for these 11 articles from the larger set would enhance methodological transparency and rigor. Nevertheless, the study's central finding—that societal stigma towards people with mental disorders remains significantly high—is a powerful and concerning revelation, underscoring its profound impact on community attitudes, behaviors, and perceptions. This review serves as a valuable synthesis of existing knowledge on a crucial social issue, offering a concise overview of the current state of stigma within the community. The predominantly national focus of the included literature likely provides salient insights into local contexts. To further strengthen future contributions, greater detail on the analytical framework used to synthesize the 11 reviewed articles, beyond mere aggregation, would be beneficial. The compelling findings strongly advocate for the urgent development and implementation of targeted public education and awareness campaigns to challenge misconceptions, promote empathy, and ultimately foster a more supportive and inclusive environment for individuals living with mental disorders.
