Abstract

Abstract: This paper is motivated by the lack of exemplary church officials in carrying out the duties and responsibilities entrusted to serve church members. Therefore, the church needs role models from the Bible. We chose Gamaliel because he was a religious leader who studied the Scriptures (Torah) and set an example in terms of thinking, teaching, and making decisions with wisdom. Thus, the purpose of this article is to examine and analyze the text of Acts 5:26-42 based on a narrative hermeneutic interpretation approach and explain implicatively the essence of this text for today's church officials. A qualitative research approach through literature study was utilized through the critical narrative hermeneutic method. The researchers collected data either through journal articles, books or documents relevant to the topic discussed. The results and discussion regarding the insights and profile of Gamaliel in the text of Acts 5:26-42 as a wise advisor and making comparisons as material for consideration in advising the Religious Council. Gamaliel's thinking emphasizes that there must be obedience, loyalty, discipline, and dynamism from Gamaliel's profile to then become a reminder and must be applied to church officials who are entrusted to lead and direct people who must be carried out with wisdom. Through Gamaliel's profile, church officials are expected to be servants for people who educate, guide both from the way of thinking, to have an impact on a quality way of life. Abstrak: Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh ketidakteladanan pejabat gereja dalam menjalankan tugas dan tanggungjawab yang dipercayakan untuk melayani anggota gereja. Oleh karena itu, gereja membutuhkan tokoh teladan dari Alkitab. Kami memilih Gamaliel karena ia merupakan pemimpin agama yang memelajari Kitab Suci (Taurat) dan menjadi teladan dalam hal berpikir, mengajar dan mengambil keputusan dengan hikmat. Dengan demikian, tujuan dari artikel ini adalah untuk mengkaji serta menganalisis teks Kisah Para Rasul 5:26-42 berdasarkan pendekatan interpretasi hermeneutik naratif serta menjelaskan secara implikatif esensi teks ini bagi pejabat gereja masa kini. Pendekatan penelitian kualitatif melalui studi literatur digunakan melalui metode hermeneutik naratif kritis. Para peneliti mengumpulkan data baik melalui artikel jurnal, buku-buku atau dokumen yang relevan dengan topik yang dibahas. Hasil dan pembahasan mengenai wawasan dan profil Gamaliel dalam teks Kisah Para Rasul 5:26-42 sebagai seorang penasehat yang bijaksana dan membuat perbandingan sebagai bahan pertimbangan dalam memberikan nasehat kepada Mahkamah Agama. Pemikiran Gamaliel menekankan bahwa harus ada ketaataan, kesetiaan, kedisiplinan, dan dinamisitas dari profil Gamaliel untuk kemudian menjajdi pengingat serta harus diaplikasikan bagi pejabat gereja yang dipercayakan untuk memimpin dan mengarahkan umat yang harus dilaksanakan dengan penuh hikmat. Melalui profil Gamaliel, pejabat gereja diharapkan menjadi para pelayan bagi umat yang mendidik, membimbing baik dari cara berpikir, hingga berdampak pada cara hidup yang berkualitas
