This journal submission addresses a highly pertinent and critical issue concerning the legal protection of customary land rights for indigenous communities, a topic with significant implications for social justice and conflict prevention, particularly in the Indonesian context. The paper's stated objective to enhance the understanding of indigenous communities in Kampung Yendidori, Biak Numfor, regarding their legal rights over *tanah ulayat* and to mitigate agrarian conflicts stemming from external interventions is commendable and timely. The title's emphasis on the "Role of Students" suggests a valuable approach to community engagement and capacity building, positioning the work at the intersection of legal education and public service. The methodology employed, described as participatory legal socialization through lectures, discussions, and legal consultations with traditional leaders and community members, is well-suited for fostering community understanding and empowerment. The abstract effectively highlights the immediate positive outcomes, demonstrating an increase in legal awareness among the community regarding customary rights as communal rights, underpinned by foundational legal instruments such as UUPA, UUD 1945, and Constitutional Court Decision No. 35/PUU-X/2012. Furthermore, the findings indicate practical steps taken by the community, including an appreciation for customary deliberation, land data collection, and the establishment of local regulations, all crucial for the proactive protection of their ancestral lands. These results collectively underscore the effectiveness of the socialization in strengthening legal consciousness and independence. While the abstract provides a compelling summary of the initiative's success in raising legal awareness and fostering practical actions, a full manuscript would benefit from further elaboration on several aspects. Specifically, the "Peran Mahasiswa" (Role of Students), as highlighted in the title, is not detailed in the abstract, leaving a key component of the work underexplored. Future iterations or a complete paper should articulate how student involvement contributed to the design, execution, and impact of the program. Additionally, while the abstract notes an "increase in legal awareness," clearer indicators or qualitative evidence of this improvement would strengthen the empirical claims. Nevertheless, this work presents a valuable model for community legal empowerment, offering significant insights into preventing agrarian conflicts through education and proactive legal protection strategies.
