Guidance and counseling are in a transition period from conventional-based services to internet-based services. The presence of technology is the biggest challenge for today's individuals, who have used internet-based service media. Such individuals are called generation Z born around 1995 to 2010. The demands of technological developments are the biggest obstacles for BK teachers born in generations X and Y. The purpose of this study is to find the communication experience of Generation Z in building an online business through social media. The study used a qualitative method with data collection using observation and interview techniques. The subjects of the study were individuals born in 1998, 2000, 2004. The activities of individuals born in generation Z are very dependent on smartphones can provide a sense of comfort, security, happiness and peace, this is felt by individuals when accessing several applications available on smartphones. The use of smartphones makes it easy for individuals to surf the internet without limits. This affects the shift in paradigms and attitudes of individuals both consciously and unconsciously. The results of the study show that individuals born in generation Z can feel the freedom and ease in developing an online business career without having to need a place and capital, especially for beginners in online business as resellers.
This study presents a timely and highly relevant exploration into the intersection of career guidance, Generation Z's digital proclivities, and the burgeoning landscape of online entrepreneurship. The paper effectively identifies a critical gap, highlighting the challenges faced by conventional career guidance services and older generation counselors in understanding and supporting digitally native individuals. By setting out to uncover the communication experiences of Gen Z in developing online businesses, the research aims to provide crucial insights into how this demographic leverages social media and digital platforms for economic activity, thereby establishing a foundation for adapting career guidance paradigms. While the qualitative methodology, employing observation and interviews, is appropriate for delving into individual experiences, certain aspects warrant further clarity or expansion. The abstract points to "strengthening strategic management" in its title, yet the findings predominantly describe Gen Z's comfort, freedom, and ease in engaging with online business as resellers, particularly due to smartphone dependency and the absence of traditional barriers like capital and physical space. This suggests the study might lean more towards the motivations and initial engagement rather than the nuanced strategic management aspects of online business. Furthermore, while the abstract establishes the problem of "demands of technological developments" as an obstacle for BK teachers, the findings section primarily focuses on Gen Z's perspective, leaving the direct implications for *career guidance perspective* somewhat underexplored within the provided summary. Despite these observations, the paper offers valuable preliminary insights into the mindset and operational dynamics of Gen Z online entrepreneurs. The emphasis on freedom, ease, and low entry barriers for beginners (resellers) is a significant finding that underscores the need for career guidance professionals to re-evaluate traditional career pathways and entrepreneurial support. This work serves as an important exploratory piece, laying groundwork for subsequent research that could delve deeper into the specific strategies Gen Z employs, how career guidance models can be concretely adapted to this digital reality, and how the communication experiences translate into sustainable business practices. It contributes meaningfully to the discourse on modern career development in a rapidly evolving digital world.
