Abstract

This study develops the SADE application (Sistem Administrasi Asrama Digital Ekasari) Digital Dormitory Administration System Ekasari using the Agile method to improve the administration of Asrama Ekasari at IPB University. Manual management has caused delays, inaccuracies, and limited information access. The web-based system enables real-time management of resident data, finances, and activities, featuring financial visualization through line charts as a simple business intelligence tool to assist decision-making. The system is built using React.js for the frontend, Express.js for the backend, and MySQL as the database. Black-box testing ensures all functions operate according to specifications. User evaluations indicate that most features work well, although the mobile interface requires improved responsiveness. Overall, SADE supports digital transformation in dormitory administration while enhancing communication between residents and management.

Review

This paper presents the development of SADE (Sistem Administrasi Asrama Digital Ekasari), a web-based administration system designed to modernize and improve the management processes at Asrama Ekasari, IPB University. The project effectively addresses common challenges associated with manual dormitory administration, such as delays, inaccuracies, and limited information access. By adopting an Agile methodology, the study aims to deliver a responsive and efficient solution for real-time management of resident data, financial transactions, and activities, demonstrating a clear and relevant objective for enhancing operational efficiency within an academic institution. The strengths of this work lie in its practical application of modern web technologies, specifically React.js for the frontend, Express.js for the backend, and MySQL for the database, to build a comprehensive administrative tool. A notable contribution is the integration of financial visualization through line charts, serving as a "simple business intelligence tool" to aid decision-making, which adds significant value beyond basic data management. The abstract indicates that black-box testing confirms the system's functionality, and initial user evaluations suggest that most features operate effectively, underscoring a successful initial implementation and a commitment to quality assurance. While the project shows significant promise, the abstract also identifies areas for further improvement and provides avenues for deeper analysis in the full paper. The acknowledged need for improved mobile interface responsiveness is a crucial point, as accessibility across various devices is paramount for modern web applications. Future iterations or discussions could detail the specific Agile practices implemented and how user feedback was iteratively incorporated throughout development. Additionally, while black-box testing confirms functionality, expanding on user acceptance testing results with more specific metrics (e.g., time savings, error rate reduction) and providing concrete examples of how the financial visualization tool directly assists decision-making would further strengthen the paper's empirical contributions.
