This paper, titled "The Influence of Salary and Work Stress on Productivity with Job Satisfaction as an Intervening Variable," investigates a crucial relationship in organizational behavior and human resource management. The study's objective is clearly articulated: to analyze how salary and work stress indirectly affect productivity through job satisfaction among operational employees at Pajajaran Toserba Ciamis. This focus on a specific, real-world retail setting provides a practical context for examining these well-established constructs, making the research findings potentially valuable for practitioners seeking to enhance employee productivity and well-being. Methodologically, the research employed a survey approach, collecting data directly from 28 operational employees via questionnaires. The authors utilized a census sampling technique, meaning all eligible employees within the specific department served as respondents. The data analysis primarily involved mediation variable analysis, a suitable technique for exploring the proposed indirect effects. The core finding suggests that both salary and work stress indeed have an indirect influence on productivity, with job satisfaction serving as the mediating factor among the sampled employees. This result aligns with theoretical expectations that psychological states like job satisfaction play a critical role in translating extrinsic motivators and stressors into tangible performance outcomes. While the study offers valuable insights into the interrelationships between salary, work stress, job satisfaction, and productivity within its specific context, some limitations warrant consideration. The relatively small sample size of 28 respondents, though a census for the target group, significantly restricts the generalizability of the findings to other departments, organizations, or the broader retail sector. Future research could benefit from a larger sample size across multiple branches or similar retail establishments to enhance the external validity of the conclusions. Additionally, relying solely on self-reported questionnaire data might introduce common method bias. Future studies could incorporate objective measures of productivity where feasible, or utilize mixed-methods approaches for a more comprehensive understanding. Despite these points, the research provides a foundational understanding for Pajajaran Toserba Ciamis and sets a stage for more extensive investigations into these critical organizational dynamics.
