Abstract

Permasalahan utama mitra di Desa Wisata Bahuluang, Kabupaten Kepulauan Selayar, adalah ketiadaan sistem pengelolaan sampah plastik yang memicu pencemaran pesisir, serta rendahnya kompetensi sumber daya manusia (SDM) dalam standar pelayanan wisata. Pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan solusi integratif melalui pelatihan pelayanan prima (service excellence) dan pendampingan pengelolaan limbah berbasis circular economy. Metode pelaksanaan menerapkan pendekatan Participatory Action Learning (PAL) yang melibatkan 30 peserta aktif (pemuda, pelaku homestay, dan PKK) melalui tahapan sosialisasi, pelatihan teknis, dan praktik langsung pembuatan produk daur ulang. Hasil evaluasi kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan kapasitas kognitif mitra, dibuktikan dengan kenaikan skor rata-rata dari 55 (pre-test) menjadi 72 (post-test). Secara psikomotorik, mitra berhasil mengolah limbah residu plastik menjadi produk ecobrick fungsional (kursi taman) serta menyusun draf Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) pelayanan homestay. Dampak keberlanjutan program ditandai dengan terbentuknya embrio kelompok kerja pengelola sampah desa yang diproyeksikan bersinergi dengan BUMDes untuk mewujudkan tata kelola destinasi wisata bahari yang bersih, mandiri, dan berdaya saing.

This paper presents a pertinent and timely intervention addressing the dual challenges of plastic waste management and suboptimal service quality within the Bahuluang Tourist Village in Selayar. The abstract clearly articulates a pressing need for integrated solutions in a coastal tourism destination, where environmental degradation from plastic pollution often coexists with underdeveloped human resource capabilities in the service sector. The proposed methodology, combining "service excellence" training with a "circular economy"-based waste management approach (3R principles), offers a comprehensive framework for fostering sustainable tourism development and enhancing local community resilience. The significant increase in cognitive capacity, evidenced by the pre-test to post-test score improvement (55 to 72), highlights effective knowledge transfer. Furthermore, the practical outputs—successful production of functional ecobricks and the drafting of a homestay service SOP—underscore the program's success in translating knowledge into practical skills and actionable plans, which are crucial for real-world change. A key strength of this initiative lies in its focus on sustainability and empowerment, as evidenced by the formation of an embryonic waste management working group intended to collaborate with the Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes). This forward-looking aspect positions the program for long-term impact on the village's journey towards becoming a clean, self-reliant, and competitive marine tourism destination. To further enrich the academic contribution, future reports could delve deeper into the specific content of the developed SOPs, explore the economic viability and scaling potential of the recycled products, and establish clearer long-term monitoring indicators for both environmental and service quality improvements.
