Abstract

The basis of the state is a series of values extracted from and growing in Indonesian society itself since centuries ago, which contains ideas about the ideals of the state (staatsidee) and the ideals of law (rechtsidee) so that it is used as a source for the preparation of basic law or articles of the Constitution. Pancasila is the philosophical basis of the Indonesian state which was proposed by Ir. Soekarno on June 1, 1945, and was formalized as the basis of the state on August 18, 1945. The five basic principles of Pancasila are Belief in One God, Fair and civilized humanity, Indonesian Unity, Democracy led by wisdom in deliberation and representation, and Social justice for all Indonesian people.

Review

This paper, titled "Pancasila sebagai Dasar Negara Indonesia," appears to offer a foundational overview of Pancasila as the philosophical and constitutional bedrock of the Indonesian state. The abstract clearly articulates Pancasila's genesis, defining it as a collection of values inherent to Indonesian society, which serves as the source for the nation's fundamental laws and constitutional articles. By outlining its historical origins, specifically referencing Ir. Soekarno's proposal and its formalization, and by enumerating its five core principles, the paper sets out to establish a clear understanding of this pivotal concept in Indonesian statehood, highlighting its role in shaping the nation's ideals of state and law. While the abstract provides a concise and accurate summary of Pancasila's historical establishment and its foundational principles, it largely adopts a descriptive approach. Its strength lies in clearly stating the widely accepted historical facts and core tenets, which is valuable for readers seeking an introduction to the topic. However, a significant area for potential enhancement, based on the abstract alone, would be to move beyond mere description towards a more analytical or critical engagement. The abstract does not indicate a specific research question, a particular methodology, or any novel interpretation or argument beyond reiterating well-established information. For instance, the assertion that Pancasila's values are "extracted from and growing in Indonesian society itself since centuries ago" is a powerful claim that would benefit from deeper historical and sociological substantiation within the paper itself, rather than just being stated. Given its current framing, the paper seems well-suited as an introductory or explanatory text on Pancasila for a general audience or for students new to the subject. However, for a scholarly journal seeking original research or advanced analysis, the abstract suggests that the paper might benefit from a more focused research inquiry. To elevate its academic contribution, future iterations or expansions could explore specific challenges in Pancasila's implementation, its evolving interpretations in contemporary Indonesian society, comparative analyses with other national ideologies, or a detailed legal analysis of how its principles are translated into constitutional law. Without these deeper analytical layers, the paper risks being a factual recapitulation rather than a substantive contribution to academic discourse.
