Abstract

Simone Weil (1909-1943) filósofa francesa que viveu na primeira metade do século XX, conhecida pela sua erudição e pela sua crítica voraz é atualmente admirada por muitos acadêmicos, principalmente no que concerne à sua singular leitura da filosofia platônica e de suas análises críticas sobre a opressão na sociedade contemporânea. Hoje, mesmo pouco conhecida no Brasil, Weil é agraciada por uma pensadora brasileira com a publicação deste livro que, considerando o âmbito internacional, apresenta o estudo mais aprofundado a respeito do papel do corpo, do trabalho e da interação de ambos (do corpo em trabalho) na filosofia weiliana. Esta obra é produto de imensa investigação realizada pela autora Débora Mariz, obra que foi apresentada inicialmente como sua tese de doutorado no ano de 2016 pelo departamento de Filosofia da UFMG.  Hoje Mariz é professora de Ensino em Filosofia na Faculdade de Educação da Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG).
