This community service activity was conducted in a Christian ministry institution located in Makassar City, South Sulawesi. The Student Creativity Program (PKM) was motivated by the reality that many people in Makassar have not yet known or believed in Isa Al-Masih (Jesus Christ )as Lord and Savior. As a city with a predominantly non-Christian population, evangelism in Makassar needs to be carried out contextually, wisely, and lovingly, without offending the beliefs of the surrounding community. The “PI 3 Saja” method (an acronym for Evangelism anytime, anywhere, and to anyone) serves as a relevant and effective strategy for reaching out to society. Through the 5P approach (Pertalian—Relationship, Peralihan—Transition, Penginsafan—Conviction, Pengabaran—Proclamation, and Penyelesaian—Commitment), this method emphasizes the importance of friendship, empathy, and naturally sharing the Gospel in everyday conversations. The purpose of this activity was to train participants in the institution to become contextual evangelists who can share the Good News without coercion, but rather through exemplary living and genuine friendship with others. The training and field practice results showed positive responses from the community, the formation of small discipleship groups (house churches), and an increased sense of courage and sensitivity among participants in sharing the Gospel in non-Christian environments. This activity demonstrates that evangelism can remain relevant and effective when it prioritizes love, relationships, and sensitivity to local culture.
The paper presents a valuable initiative in the realm of contextual evangelism, focusing on the specific challenges and opportunities within the predominantly non-Christian city of Makassar, Indonesia. Titled "Metode PI 3 Saja," the work outlines a practical approach designed to foster evangelism that is both sensitive and effective. This community service activity addresses a critical need for methods that facilitate the sharing of the Gospel in a way that respects local culture and prevailing beliefs, thereby minimizing offense while maximizing genuine engagement with diverse communities. A significant strength of this work lies in its innovative "PI 3 Saja" method, an acronym emphasizing evangelism "anytime, anywhere, and to anyone." This framework is further concretized by the 5P approach – Pertalian (Relationship), Peralihan (Transition), Penginsafan (Conviction), Pengabaran (Proclamation), and Penyelesaian (Commitment) – which systematically guides participants through a process rooted in building authentic friendships and empathy. The emphasis on non-coercion, exemplary living, and natural conversational sharing is particularly commendable, offering a robust model for respectful and sustainable ministry in diverse cultural landscapes. The reported positive outcomes, including community responses, the formation of discipleship groups, and enhanced participant confidence, underscore the practical utility and potential impact of this training. While the abstract highlights compelling positive results, it would benefit from further elaboration on the specific metrics or qualitative data used to evaluate the "positive responses" and the "increased sense of courage and sensitivity." Future iterations or publications could detail the data collection methods and findings more thoroughly, perhaps including testimonials, observation protocols, or participant surveys to provide deeper insights into the impact. Nevertheless, this community service project successfully demonstrates that evangelism, when thoughtfully adapted to local contexts through principles of love, relationship-building, and cultural sensitivity, can indeed remain highly relevant and effective. It provides a foundational model for other similar initiatives seeking to engage diverse communities respectfully and meaningfully.
