Abstract

Analisis ini berjudul “Metafora Bahasa Arsitektur dalam Narasi Novel Hello Karya Tere Liye” bertujuan menganalisis makna serta fungsi metafora bahasa arsitektur dalam membangun narasi serta pengalaman estetik pembaca. Kajian ini berlandaskan teori metafora konseptual dari George Lakoff dan Mark Johnson (1980), memandang metafora sebagai sistem konseptual yang menghubungkan hal konkret dengan konsep abstrak. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yakni deskriptif kualitatif dengan teknik baca-catat terhadap novel Hello karya Tere Liye untuk menemukan kutipan yang mengandung metafora arsitektur, kemudian dianalisis berdasarkan kategori metafora ontologis, orientasional, dan struktural. Hasil analisis menunjukkan enam belas data metafora bahasa arsitektur, meliputi delapan metafora ontologis, dua metafora orientasional, serta enam metafora struktural. Metafora ontologis menjadi bentuk paling dominan karena menggambarkan elemen bangunan—seperti rumah, jendela, dan ruang—sebagai simbol kenangan, identitas, juga emosi tokoh. Metafora orientasional berfungsi menegaskan konsep ruang dan arah (tinggi–rendah, keteraturan) untuk menggambarkan relasi sosial dan keseimbangan batin. Sementara itu, metafora struktural memperlihatkan hubungan antara konsep arsitektur (pondasi, tiang, renovasi) dengan perjalanan hidup serta pemulihan diri tokoh.

This systematic breakdown provides a granular understanding of how architecture functions as a powerful symbolic language within the narrative. This paper makes a commendable contribution to both literary studies and the broader understanding of conceptual metaphors in narrative. Its findings not only illuminate the intricate narrative construction of Tere Liye's *Novel Hello* but also demonstrate the profound capacity of architectural language to convey complex human experiences and emotions. The detailed categorization and interpretation of architectural metaphors offer a useful framework for future analyses of similar phenomena in other literary works or even different artistic mediums. By showcasing the power of these metaphors in building aesthetic experience and conveying profound meaning, the study underscores the richness of interdisciplinary approaches to literary analysis and provides a strong foundation for further exploration into how our built environment shapes our conceptual worlds and narratives.
