Review

This paper investigates the management strategy employed at a specific franchise minimarket, Alfamidi Bromo II, utilizing a qualitative descriptive approach. The study aims to understand how management is implemented within this context, focusing on employee perspectives. Its relevance lies in offering practical insights into the internal operations of a retail franchise, touching upon critical aspects such as human resource management, leadership styles (specifically, democratic management), and organizational structure within a single-unit setting. The chosen methodology is appropriate for gaining a detailed, albeit localized, understanding of these phenomena from an internal viewpoint. While the study provides a preliminary snapshot, several areas require clarification and deeper exploration to enhance its academic rigor. The abstract's scope is highly localized to a single minimarket, raising questions about the generalizability of its findings without a clear justification for this particular case study selection. Furthermore, the term "management strategy" in the title appears somewhat broad given the specific findings, which primarily describe operational management aspects like HR practices, managerial demeanor, and task structure rather than a holistic strategic framework or competitive positioning. Methodologically, the abstract lacks sufficient detail regarding the specific qualitative techniques employed (e.g., interview protocols, observation periods) and the analytical methods used to derive the stated results. More importantly, there is no mention of a theoretical lens or how these findings contribute to existing management literature beyond a purely descriptive account, limiting its academic impact. To enhance the scholarly contribution of this work, the authors should significantly revise the manuscript. Key revisions would include clearly defining the conceptualization of "management strategy" within the study's context, providing a robust justification for the single-case study approach, and elaborating on the specific qualitative data collection and analysis techniques used. Additionally, integrating the findings with relevant management theories would elevate the paper's analytical depth and demonstrate its broader academic contribution. As it stands, the abstract presents interesting practical observations, but substantial revisions are necessary to meet the standards for a peer-reviewed academic publication, particularly in terms of theoretical framing, methodological rigor, and broader implications.
