This article addresses a highly pertinent and timely topic: the complexities of voter political behavior in Indonesia's 2024 simultaneous local elections (Pilkada), particularly through the lens of integrating local traditions with digital technology. The chosen focus on how these two distinct yet increasingly intertwined forces shape voter preferences offers a valuable contribution to understanding modern democratic processes in a culturally rich nation. The abstract effectively sets the stage by proposing a qualitative-descriptive approach to dissecting this complex interaction, identifying three key voter types—emotional, rational, and situational—which provides a useful initial framework for analysis. The research highlights a significant finding: campaigns that successfully blend local traditions with technological tools have the potential to considerably enhance political participation. This insight is crucial for practitioners and policymakers engaged in local democracy, offering practical implications for campaign strategies. Furthermore, the acknowledgment of pervasive challenges such as disinformation and polarization underscores the nuanced and often fraught environment in which these elections take place. While the abstract points to the influence of social media, the full paper would benefit from a more detailed exploration of *how* specific local traditions manifest in a political context and *which* technological channels or content types prove most effective in their integration, and precisely *how* the three voter types were empirically distinguished within the dataset. Overall, this article presents a compelling and relevant analysis, poised to contribute significantly to the academic discourse on Indonesian electoral behavior and the broader study of democracy in the digital age, especially where traditional values remain strong. Its exploration of integrating local identity with modern communication tools offers a valuable perspective for understanding voter engagement and mobilization. The insights into the potential of blended campaigns, alongside the critical challenges identified, suggest that the paper holds important implications for both academic understanding and practical application. Given the promising scope, a detailed exposition of the methodological steps and empirical evidence supporting the distinctions between voter types and the impact of integrated campaigns would further strengthen its scholarly contribution.
